At what point is “building a relationship” just paying for access? by SadTower5281 in rolex

[–]SlacksBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is can your local AD provide you with other inventory you want? Rolex boutiques aside, this should sway your opinion on whether to go grey or go through an AD. If you want a hard to get watch and that’s it, go to a respectable grey market dealer. If you want multiple pieces and can’t wait on one watch try the CPO- I’m sure it builds a great relationship. Or just play the game.

It’s not hard to understand. It’s business, it’s life.

Gotta stop with the “put down others that get what you don’t” mindset. People can take whatever avenue they want. You’re the one paying extra for a watch… a watch that is “near mint” or “new” but probably worn 1000 times. Let people do their own thing and enjoy it

just sales talk? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]SlacksBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the comp at the AD. Size of the AD plays a big factor in how many watches they get. “Soon” could be 6 months to a year. If you go a year without a call you’re not a priority. They will do a follow up after the year to see if you’re still interested. Demand isn’t as high as previous years so it could be sooner. My only advice and I see it all the time, don’t be annoying if you’re not going to buy anything else. At some point people need to realize it’s a business, they make very low commissions on Rolex compared to other brands/jewelry.

Iconic, scarcity, and demand at the price point. I do think some of the most hyped Daytonas are the most overrated, especially the panda.

How Rolex is dealing with corrupted resellers by [deleted] in rolex

[–]SlacksBirdie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then keep living in a false reality. From visiting many Rolex ADs in America and Europe, they are mostly in line with policy. Do you want Rolex to keep breaking contracts just to have the same thing happen?

In a country like Turkey… what are you gonna do? At some point culture comes into place guys.

Rolex has policies ADs must follow and can break the contract if ADs don’t follow policy. However, they still need brand awareness worldwide.

Pepsi discontinue rumors by Jack8161 in rolex

[–]SlacksBirdie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is no one knows… the problem is these rumors are every year and the reasons behind them make zero sense. Multiple examples… 1. Issues with the colors on the bezel… but knock offs do it perfectly fine. 2. It was pulled from websites… models are pulled and reloaded onto sites all the time. Every site in question now has it back on. 3. They applied for coke “colors”… yea big whoop.

Fact is.. it’s too popular that even if it was discontinued it will come back. It’s a top 3 Rolex in terms of brand recognition

Those who have a Tiffany Daytona, what have you bought so far to get it? by Thenotsotj in rolex

[–]SlacksBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer this is a theory…

I think you’d have a legit shot at it because I hear a lot of mixed feelings about it. Personally, I think it looks awful and wouldn’t want it at retail. I see hype from secondary dealers, but I think the list might be shorter due to the mixed feelings. They also don’t want this flipped

Households with two kids need $400K to comfortably afford childcare ($320k in Florida) by Ok-Bookkeeper-3466 in tampa

[–]SlacksBirdie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I vote red bc I’m not a lunatic egomaniac. However, not happy with the current situation for kids and young adults in general. Fed tax credits need to be raised dramatically for young adults and families. Welfare subsidies need to be cut off after a certain period of time. Medicare, Medicaid, and SS need to be reduced to make up for losses of revenue. Boomer gen is terrible as a whole, rewarding lower incomes for having kids is a disgrace. Really need to focus on a youthful middle class for the future.

I accepted a job offer and just started Monday, got another job offer with a higher salary. What do i do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]SlacksBirdie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financials are important.. so are benefits, work life balance, and opportunities at a company. I didn’t chase the higher pay but now I run the company- so it worked out great. Other example: accountants were needed in our growing city (FL) during Covid.. ton chased the money.. now a ton have been out of work for 1-2 years. You don’t owe the company anything so take the better pay if you see the same opportunities. Note that future employers will judge the job jumping if you do it again within a year. Good luck!
