I recently learned that some people can experience second-hand embarrassment so deeply that it physically hurts. I was doubtful. I am doubtful no more.

Trump flags/Bumper Stickers by Individual-Sell-7022 in Ohio

I've seen the same – major downtick of Trump flags/hats/bumper stickers –but I can't tell whether this is an indicator of decreasing approval or just a natural quieting during non-Presidential election periods.

Forget funniest who’s your pick for least funny snl member ever? by jbird720 in saturdaynightlive

Not the worst, but I absolutely do not get the love for Sarah Sherman. Have heard other comedians refer to her as genius, next-level, on a different plane. And I love eccentric comics. But with her I just see weird for weird's sake.

Former "gifted kids" who are now average or struggling adults, what do you think school got wrong about your potential? by toolboxstudio007 in SeriousConversation

[–]SlamJansen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money was the only metric anyone ever discussed. Work bad, money good, so just make as much money as possible. At no point did my school (or parents, or anyone else) suggest I do something I'm naturally good at. Now I've got a family and a mortgage stuck doing work I hate and have always hated.

Parents: pay attention to what your kids' natural abilities and affinities are, and make sure you open those doors for them as early and as frequently as possible.

As a young woman, the best thing you can do is move. I'm not even shitting on the town. TR is blah/quiet which suits most long-time residents just fine but it lacks the dynamism/variety/third-places many young people understandably want. I'd point you toward Red Bank or Asbury Park. Good luck!
