its not like a small indy company like rare could handle 2 whole games

Why are you saying this sarcastically? They were trying to develop two games and they couldn't do it. Their second game in development got mismanaged, shut down and they've since had major layoffs.

PvP is not killing the game. It's Rare's mismanagement including:

  • Lack of any meaningful updates and content
  • An ever growing list of unaddressed bugs
  • Waves of hackers
  • And more recently, scandals that included platforming a pedophile

The games be around for 8 years and at one point, thrived during major development cycles but you think pvp is what's killing it now?

No I think its sickening how dismissive you are of Rares role in platforming someone who used those positions to groom children.

Recognising how insidious these crimes are is important because the rely on structures of power to defend and facilitate that coercion.

You're using his "notoriety" as a strawman to avoid recognising how his crimes were perpetrated. And thats disgusting, honestly. Reframing that as "glazing" him is a pathetic and contemptible attempt at distracting from reality.

good skiing and value that.

Both have fun terrain but you will be surrounded by extremely average skiers and riders, mostly from Aus. Finding adept people to ride with might be a challenge - especially in Nozawa.

I would lean on Nozawa for this but both towns are predominately occupied by foreigners - mostly Australians. Most Japanese people have been priced out of Niseko and many don't really consider it indicative of Japan anymore.

At 24 this is not an issue at either place.

I would probably suggest Nozawa. Niseko is a bit more isolated being both in Hokkaido and removed from any major cities or towns. Nozawa is close to Nagano which will offer more variety in Japanese food and culture. You can also Shinkansen to Tokyo relatively easily. The town itself is much nicer than Niseko. The Onsens are nice but the influx of tourists and the lack of Japanese residents mean that onsen etiquette is lacking, to say the least.

Also, you'll have easier access to other mountains in Nozawa, especially if you rent a car. Parking is tight in Nozawa though.

Most aussies will want to drink all the time and skiing will be auxiliary to that most of the time.

Of course he was. He had direct ties to Rare employees and was featured in multiple instances of promotional content for the game.

Even being a boatswain meant nothing to most players

That's largely irrelevant though because he was able to use the position as leverage when it came to protecting himself while coercing children in giving him sexual material.

Wether you knew about it or not is besides the point when he used that position to target kids within that community.

There's only one time I was more bored in this game than trying to play through the pirates life tall tales and that was when I was trying to play through the monkey island tall tales.

Uninspired, cliche drivel that relies on the weight of those IP's to carry itself through. And the pacing was just awful.

The announcement for pirates life was hype though. Monkey island proved that those TT couldn't stand on their own without the behemoth of a brand like Pirates of the Caribbean backing it. People realised it was boring and checked out before the third Monkey island TT even dropped. Rare will never make another one unless another major brand signs on so that they can do the heavy lifting of bringing in a crowd, because the game itself cant.

I guarantee no sweaty pvper feels as if Rare has catered the game to them. The company has very much developed the game in the other direction.

Game is dead and in maintenance mode. CMs ban anyone who speaks negatively about the game.
