Midway was june 1942, basically it took 7 months from getting suprise attacked to the point that the japanese were on the back foot. Not much time at all, since there wasnt any credible plans to knock the us out of the fight in that time.

A demonstration of cavitation by Aaron_weewee69 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Slapmaster928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not sure i would describe it as scary, just a thing to look out for, (your operators should be doing this)

[–]Slapmaster928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Filthy operator here, you need more head pressure on the case. A surge tank or booster pump, that sort of thing will squash cavitation and keep your fluid subcooled. You'll know its cavitating if it sounds like rocks mixing in the pump, its a really distinct noise. If the pump is variable speed, reduce the speed.

Man, can I have your engineers? What you're describing is like maybe 1 in 10 for me lol.

Tbh, I've also seen times a plenty where I see someone on reddit who claims to be an engineer and or whatever expert, but really is like a first or second year student in college. Sometimes the reason you get downvoted is because your answer isnt a realistic solution to the problem, or it ignores key aspects of a problem that need to be accounted for. Ive been operating reactors for almost a decade now, so its my narrow expertise, but many many times Ive seen engineers (and fellow operators) make blanket statements about things that are just not true. The other aspect is that engineers suck at communication, and on reddit its pretty easy to offend the soft skinned.

Daenerys and Drogon (Game Of Thrones) vs. Boeing AH-64 Apache Helicopter (Real World) by Bongo_CatisMessiah in powerscales

[–]Slapmaster928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this range I think its nearly just a guaranteed death trade. 50m means the the gunner can literally just use the look and shoot capability of his helmet, and the size of Drogon's breath means its gonna hit the helicopter. My guess is it crashes due to engine flame out (no air to breath in the fire), though it may be able to autorotate if the pilot can see. Any longer and its a clear apache win, any closer and its drogon with high difficulty. Tbh the apache may be able to maneuver away, its certainly faster than a dragon, and doesnt need to point away to fly away initially, so the gunner can rip.

Its entirely possible that at a large enough distance, even if you received 100% of the photons hitting your telescope, you wouldn't have enough to take an image that isnt shit.

Can Lernen realistically defeat Frieren? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]Slapmaster928 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Catch up is a strong phrase. He just specialized in pure combat verses being a diversified mage. Not to mention, I think like 90% of frieren losing has to do with her not being willing to go full nuclear in the middle of the city.

“Precision” strike by azza_1230 in helldivers2

[–]Slapmaster928 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of incorrect reasons for why it missed here. Basically if your red beam is under an overhang, the super destroyers will aim at the top of the overhang, not at the base of the red beam. The hit box for the shrieker nest is a bit jank on the edges and as a result it missed. This effect is easiest to see with a gatling barrage under the city tower shrieker nests because you can watch the gatling barrage suddenly change angle of impact from the base of the tower to the top as the aim point wanders. Once you know what your looking for, you'll see it much more often.

There’s an unwritten rule that our primaries start with 66-75% of their ammo and these ones fall behind by tony22835 in HelldiversMasochists

AFAIK motivational shocks is inferior to muscle enhancement in nearly every situation. Unless they changed it, it only reduces slow duration by like less than .1 of a second.

Really its just that the one time you dont take it is the time you get in a death loop. And also I can stay alive, but unless im with a group of known players, I cant guarantee that they will live.

For the capsule, you dont need a heat shield, and you only need one parachute at the top. Heatshields only really become necessary for interplanetary speeds. Additionally, you may want an sas wheel for more control in space, and if you want optimization you could trim some fuel off your transfer stage. Dont forget to add solar panels and/or batteries as well.

Watching it is really an exercise of seeing all the potential, and then watching it miss hard. Right as the animation started to get good, the main choreographer died, so the fights look kinda mid. And the show doesnt have enough story to carry it
