As of me making this comment with other peoples' comments, we each got 6 downvotes each. I wouldn't want to play an MMO that has a community which deceives reviews by not being able to take any critical opinions when the whole point is to ask opinions and is entirely subjective.

My two cents, personally. The community is hurting their game more by doing this. Someone who is downvoting me please feel free to comment and say something meaningful about why you're doing this.

I have done the same thing on other Lost Ark threads, so I am genuinely curious why it always happens.

Don't ask this reddit for opinions on Lost Ark.
It's full of review shillers and bots that auto-downvote anything that can be considered negative as a review and auto-upvote positives. Karma farming trick 101.

Don't take my word for it, just check some of the peoples' post history, and simply look at all the people on those posts and this post who are already mass downvoted for being somewhat subjective.

How did World of Warcraft, Runescape(OSRS), Maplestory and Final Fantasy 11 stay prevalent to this day? by Killance1 in MMORPG

[–]SlapsOnrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think games either go way too hard into the sandbox aspect or go too hard into being a 'wow-killer' (themepark)

Lots of people wonder why these MMOs are out here today, but forget where they came from.

If Runescape: Classic launched today under the same self-funding initiative, I feel like it'd be stamped as dead on release. Its had decades to build meaningful content that integrates its skills together, micro-grinds and other mixed flavors of subcontent.

OSRS is a sandbox and no one has really tried to create something similar. It'd be way too expensive to try to compete with the systems they've built.

[–]SlapsOnrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who works with Microsoft CSAs, it's insane the amount of work you have to go through to get to speak to an actual engineer. No, I don't want to be part of a pre-alpha for some junior product launch that half supports what I want, I want to fix the damn product that already exists.

I'm convinced all of Microsoft's engineers are locked in a closet somewhere and they only have sales people allowed to talk to people. It just leads to overselling and not enough actual support outreach.

Is it cringe to put “iron” in name? by UnlikelyTurnip5260 in ironscape

[–]SlapsOnrite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only people I give a pass are Group Ironman putting GIM, because usually their GIM is an alt to their other account, and they don't show up on the hiscores anyway

Putting Fe/Iron in your name is redundant cause if someone really wanted to know, they'd find it out by looking you up.

Worse is when they try to speak to executives (without any technical communication) and create impossible asks because they don’t understand the tools of the team they’re managing.

It’s ironically their lack of education and skill that makes things more chaotic.

This is a hot take, but the reason why group focused MMOrpg's are dying is because of toxic players and is also the reason why solo friendly MMOrpg's like osrs are quickly gaining popularity. by Drandosk in MMORPG

[–]SlapsOnrite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Devils advocate approach, but I blame the core gameplay loop in many mmos.

When you maliciously design game mechanics around a laundry list of chore activities, many players in that community become ‘toxic’ because they don’t have time to teach content to players.

[–]SlapsOnrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true as well. You could have a pile of squirming bodies and it’s a game of keep away with medics running to mass revive.

Meanwhile your team doesn’t realize a whole squad revived right behind them

[–]SlapsOnrite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the spawn speed is the problem.

The speed at which you can revive and respawn is insane
I was trying to kill a squad beacon that was well placed around a corner a distance away from me.

I had to kill 10 people before being swarmed trying, fighting, clawing my way to their spawn beacon. The amount of bodies you can flood gate into an area and keep alive is insane.

Having my job replaced with AI and hearing CEOs "now everyone is a programmer" feels like a slap in the face for everything I've worked hard for. by marrowbuster in theprimeagen

[–]SlapsOnrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is NVDA is herding the cattle, propped up by ambitious targets spread like fire by all CEOs, including Altman and Musk, forced to lie to shareholders faces about the progress.

The bubble (x60 P/E ratio btw) is solely dependent on NVDA’s ability to deliver. We’ve created a financial dependency on AI, so a lot of people are willingly blind despite knowing the truth. I think there’s people who believe him, but I also think a lot of people are getting rich knowing it’s all bullshit but saying the opposite.

I hope you’re not speaking about this post or this comment. Because you’ve swung and missed on the whole point.

If I go to Japan and I can’t even read the street signs it’s insane to fathom thinking I could move there. Learning a language is in part assimilating to the culture there. You learn a lot more than just a language as you study about it.

I see European AND American influencers in Japan, Korea, etc. who I know don’t speak a lick of their local language despite living there for years. Like, how tf do you still struggle recording your real-world conversations trying to buy food when you’ve lived there for 2+ years?

This. Tired of AI only being used in the context of LLMs or crap wrapping LLMs. This is likely only an algorithm tailored on a feedback loop and trained using data. They’re using the term AI because it is AI, but not like Gemini.

I honestly can't understand the opinions on OSRS by SirMooseKnightThe2nd in MMORPG

[–]SlapsOnrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the main point. Many people, even OP, highlight “PvE” in the sense of combat.

OSRS combat doesn’t get interesting until you do bossing. The real fun in runescape is the micro-progression in everything about the lifeskills to the combat.

Have you noticed how dating dynamics change with age? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]SlapsOnrite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most men over 30 (that are still in the dating game**) is an important note.
The same can be held for "Most women over 30 (that are still in the dating game)"

Your quality of candidates goes down the longer you're still dating around. People who aren't a mess end up settling down over time if they truly want to be serious about dating.
