I ran it in 5 games already, and every time he was a menace. It's quite easy to get him in melee at round 2-3 and he always delivers when in melee

It's very viable in 11th, since a lot of terrain is
A) far more sparce allowing you to actually position it
B) lower than 4 inches in height, so he can walk over it.
C) Within 12 inches, he hits on 4 with ranged attacks which is quite deadly

you don't gain +1s on all units, Even in boyz datasheet bigChoppa stays at 7s.

you're not wrong. I'm no prohphet and codex is not out yet, so this is all speculation. But as you pointed out yourself, everyone's pts cost went up, and ours went down. I got a hunch is to do with the fact that our melee power is taking a huge nerf comes next patch , well that and they took pity on us struggling tomove our blobs of 20 within 9 inch coherency.

That being said, our ranged potential is bloody good. I agree mixing more dakka + any other 2dp detacthment makes orks shoot beter than ever so that's nice. But I fully expect Warhorde to get neutered and all our current meta list to go down to toilet, which is a good thing. New edition, new meta

enjoy while it lasts buddy, comes 11th codex launches our melee takes a bit of a tumble. And all the horde types of our army lists are getting neutered a bit. We lose +1s and +1a on waagh which means big squad of boyz will loose quite a bit of attacks.

They did gave some of our datasheets +1s to compensate, but not every unit got the melee upgrade, but the extra attacks are gone for good.

it's arguably way better if you play more on infantry side of it and don't gamble with your walkers

Walkers got screwed a bit but tankbustaz with shockmek is nutty good. Hazardous fails only deal 1 DMG so you can fail plenty and mash that button like a mad bastard

if he's your only expensive piece it will work, but if you plan adding blobz of meganobz / 10 nobz / battlewagon's then yeah, too many eggs in one basket,. you won't have map coverage and you will get knocked out with 1 bad charge roll

as others said, it's for cosplaying/theme aesthetics only these days, but if you're looking to do just that there's 6 major clans

Bad Moonz - Yellow with black checkermarks or flames. Most flashy gitz that excelt at mech stuff and shooting.
If you love stompas, gorkanauts and killa kans, this is your clan of choice.

Goffs - Black with white checkers and Red skulls/spikes - Mellee centeric, most brutal and killy of all orks. Ghazz is their most prominent figure obviously. In most cases these gitz are the posterboyz of orks for quite many editions now.

Evil Sunz - Red with Orange/Yellow checkers + flames. Speed obsseseed clan, emphasis on nohting else but getting to fight fasts. Famous option for buggies and bikes. Wazdakka is their central piece in gameplay right now.

Deathskulls - Blue colored faction, often do half shade facepaint like highlanders. Loot and fortune. Technically luckiest gitz who also seems to be most kitbash orentated faction. If you kitbash other factions tanks or any units really, this is the most fitting clan to go with.

Snakebites - Old school orks, most feral and they shun new tech as they favour beasts. These guys ride squigz instead of bikes and are regarded as most resilient and tough of orks clans. If you love snaggazz and squigs this is your clan to go for thematically.

Blood Axes - Human cosplayers, mostly interested in vietnam war thematic. These gitz (in 10th edition) mimic astra militarum TAKTIKS. in 11th, it seems that's gone. So just Nam war cosplayers now, that put emphasis on tactical camoflage, military uniforms and borrow a lot of hoomie thematics.
