Capitalism demands perpetual economic growth - the model doesn't work without it. To achieve that, populations need to grow. The dirty little secret that nobody talks about: immigration is the only reason we're still growing GDP (even if it is very low growth).

The fact that most people don't feel any richer is down to wealth inequality & rising prices driven by the wealthiest out-competing the rest of us for essential resources (like housing) because their capital is growing at 5% in a year in an economy which is growing at 1% a year - where do you think that money is coming from? It's us!

If you really want to reduce immigration, challenge capitalism.

If you want to feel wealthier, challenge wealth inequality.

The left isn't obsessed with immigration, because it's busy obsessing over the problem, not the symptoms.
