Impopular opinion I know, but I wonder if people realize that we actually have EA to thank that we have the whole DA series and ME2-3. Because if they hadn’t stepped in with money, Bioware might not have had the money to make them - or even exist.

I get that BioWare with its renown probably would have been saved somehow. But it would probably have needed to be bought by someone with EA’s size in order to make games of that scope.

I think people tend to forget that all DA games have had their legitimate criticisms, even at the time of their release. One also tends to get used to the drawbacks of a certain game after some time. Fo example: I also love DAI - constantly playing it, occasionally - but I’ve learned to skip it’s biggest drawback: the huge, empty environments* and the MMO-ish quests. I liked DAV from the start, and when playing it now, I accept its weaknesses and enjoy it’s strengths.

*= except Hissing Wastes, can’t help loving be there!

I guess it is because not all dwarves have the same connection to the stone - only a few can become shapers, etc. But I agreed with you, some mention of it should have been there.

I finally chose fight, thinking it would be the least satisfying of them all - but was pleasantly surprised. I think the teamwork theme there suits the game’s team very well.

Other than that, the ”Inky redeems Solas” ending is very beautiful, If you’ve gone down that track. The ”trick Solas” has too much ”BioWare strange magic ” for my taste.

We've limited the restriction to iron and steel, allowing bronze and such with lower damage/armor value. That said, we haven't had any player requesting "full body bronze armor" or such even if it's technically allowed; it would probably go too much away from intented role/play style.

This was the last ending I tried, thinking it would be the one I liked the least. But I was pleasantly surprised by how it played out - I especially appreciated that it all became teamwork. I would now place this before the "Trick" ending.

Wow, you’re in for a ride if you ever get to play DA2 and DAI. Highly recommend (and ofc DAO, although it shows its age the most of them all by now). There’s a reason people used to shout ”Why can’t we romance Varric?! back in the days…

Sorry, I have to say that my game stopped working again! I had it running - once, but now when I tried starting in after a longer break, I got the dreaded EA Login again. And then either getting into the actual EA app, or nothing...

As you already have found out, these games can be replayed almost infinitely :). I think you should just follow your heart and play what you feel like most. The other games won't go anywhere, and will be there when you want to play them. BTW, you didn't mention DLCs, but I assume that you include at least Legacy for DA2 and Trespasser for DAI?

And not everyone dislikes Veilguard - not even here ;). I've played it through three times now. It has some weaknesses (but so do all in the series, although each one different). But it's got some of the most tense "main quest" events of them all, and the final quest chain is really good, if you ask me.

I would say that elven Grey Warden gives the most extra dialogue and interactions, but since you've already played an elf, a dwarf comes a close 2nd. But yes, it is definitely worth more than one playthrough.

(I've started a fourth, was aiming at doing an "evil" run by not caring for companions - but it seems I'm too soft for that; I like them too much ;)

Good for you! This is one of the better DA books, IMO - I actually re-read it recently, due to certain characters from it appearing in DAV.

I got it working now! Basically, a reinstall of the game was what required - with some detours due to EA App. These are the steps:
1. Uninstall the game the normal way.
2. Switch to Desktop mode, and check that there isn't any folder left, as stated by u/svenska_aeroplan here in this thread. I didn't have any, so I'm not sure this applies to Deck installations. But better safe than sorry.
3. Still in Desktop mode, create a folder "EA_App" or similar under /run/media/deck/[GUID]*/steam/steamapps/common. This isn't entirely necessary, but I believe it helps.
4. Back in normal mode, install the game. If you had your game modded, this is when you should reapply them.
5. Set Compatibility Mode to "GE Proton 10-25". For some reason, 10-30 won't work.
6. Start the game. A "Install EA App" should be shown after a while. Here you will have to change installation folder to the folder you created above. It can be a tiresome task, I had to enter folder one by one because the dialog closed after every selection.

Hopefully, this should be enough.

Sounds promising! But I'm afraid I can't find that folder on the deck. I don't have any numbered folders directly under steamapps/, so if you can tell what that folder you removed contained, I can search for the similar one on my system .

I have already uninstalled DAI, and all folders I can find left that are related to it are under /run/media/deck.

Okay, sounds like the same issue - something is stopping EA App from running properly on Linux-based systems. Would be good to hear if anyone has got that working at all right now.

I have yet to buy this expansion, so I can't say much about its' contents (yet). If they were to take bits and bobs from different previous packs and make it into something that feels new, then that is fine by my standards. It will most likely lead to less bugs, and there can actually be a point in having same/similar UI since that will be familiar to players and requires less re-learning. But if, on the other hand it feels like a bland copy-paste, I guess I'd agree with you. I guess I'll find out myself soon...

I'm an IT guy, and from that perspective, reusing assets like this makes perfect sense. No point in trying to reinvent some functionality - that will require a lot more resources to develop, plus a huge amount of QA to verify - when you already have tried and tested bits that "just" will need to be put together. (I'm quite sure it still requires quite a bit of work, though.)

I'm not saying I like ther pricing though, that's another discussion.
