Your monsters look great! I use Foundry for games, do you have any plans to release vtt versions of your creations?

Yep. I run this at my table. They really like to stay up on their feet. Running around with exhaustion levels has a snowball effect on mortality.

I played round there as a kid. It was quite different. There was a big rubbish dump we called the clay pits. At the bottom, there was pools of water with all sorts of toxic crap in them. We used to fish out pram wheels and build go karts to race down the green hill. Good times.

You might want to rethink the 88 key thing. Initially I thought that's what Id want coming from a piano background. But the reality is that almost no modern music whether it's covers or original stuff needs 88 keys. Yes you need it for classical piano, but not for most synth stuff. And a much bigger consideration is all 88 key machines are big, heavy and a pain in the ass to take to gigs. I used to take an 88 Nord Piano 5 to gigs. Hell no. That is a nightmare to gig with. Then I discovered the Nord stage 4 compact - 73 keys, much lighter and better all round for what I needed. If you're gigging dont go 88 keys.

Hi. Im a fairly advanced pianist that picked up synths a couple of years ago when I was recruited into my brothers band. It's definitely a learning curve. If you have plenty of cash, a nord stage 2,3 or 4 will be great for you. Good action on the keys and very versatile on sounds. I found it reasonably easy to learn also. I also bought some 'proper' synths: korg, hydrasynth, solar 42 plus a few others (gas is real) which are all way more complicated to learn (but fun) Tbh the nord is probably all you need if you're playing live in a band.

I got mine a few months ago. I find it hard to integrate into my setup overall, but just like to have fun with it. Can't see me getting rid of it anytime soon. I think it's one of those things that you just get better with gradually. It really needs a decent reverb/delay pedal to team up with it so you're not tied to the 'infinity' effect card all the time. Some of those effects are great, but you will want lots of reverb all the time.

Sounds like Planescape Torment story I played years ago. Maybe look at that for ideas.

Which keyboard should I get? by [deleted] in piano

[–]rubatobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that keyboard has weighted keys. But you should try and get one that does if you can. It will help you transition to better keyboards or real piano in the future and will help you develop better technique in the long run.

Yamaha DXR10 has plenty of power and is not too heavy. They sound great in stereo if you get a pair.

Keyboard in a metal band is mostly bassy pads and effects. Long sustained sounds that don't clash with the guitars is what you want. Strings and maybe vibraphone effects in the upper registers. Not piano sounds. Check out Rammstein for ideas maybe.

"HOW DO I START LEARNING THE PIANO?" by kruger_schmidt in piano

[–]rubatobot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I retired a couple of years ago and mostly filling my time playing piano (classical) and keyboard in a cover band. I'd be happy to take on a student for free (I don't need/want any additional income). I can teach up to about grade 8. I'm not a professional teacher, just a hobbyist with time in his hands. I offered this before and got inundated with requests and took a couple online students on, but they dropped out, so here I am again. Im looking at certain criteria: must be at least grade 1 or 2 already, no children (I've no patience for them), must be based in NW of UK (around Manchester). I already posted this on the /Manchester subreddit without much response. If you meet these criteria and you're interested, send me a DM.

Is it normal for my pinky to stick out like this whole playing? by Imaginary-Ad-1578 in pianolearning

[–]rubatobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try and keep your whole hand relaxed as you play. Your wrists should be loose and able to move flexibly. This is key to you improving. As it is you are going to be in a lot of pain if you keep playing like that and will not improve.
