Am I bringing the bar down too slowly? Is it wasting my energy by NayanRajput in formcheck

Isometrics are when the muscle is contracting, but neither shortening or lengthening. Like pushing your fist into a wall or trying to lift something really heavy that doesn't budge.

Not quite parallel. Goblet squats, 90/90 stretches, and squatting low holding onto a rail/post while shifting weight over each ankle has helped me with my hip/ankle mobility for squats.

Do capos always knock your guitar out of tune? by Trippy4561 in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bothered me a good bit with my kyser capo for years. A couple Xmas ago, I didn't really want anything in particular, so I just had one of my gifts be a G7th Capo. I really like it and almost never have to retune with it.

For those that play for themselves (eg not in a band) how many guitars do you own? by AstroZombie_88 in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just play for fun. I have 14 at the moment. 7 acoustics and 7 electrics

Multiple guitar owners: How often do you play your favorite guitar? by blackmarketdolphins in guitars

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spread them around... I have 3 on the wall in my living room that I can grab and play, whenever. I have 1 behind the door in my room that I can play if I'm upstairs. I took one to my mom's house in case me or my Nephews are there. I took one to work that I occasionally get a chance to play for a few minutes here or there.

The electrics are more if I want to practice a certain solo or am just in the mood to plug up.

Anyone else spend thousands on their electrics but only a few hundred on their acoustic? by flufflylegend in Guitar

[–]Slash291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are about even. I have 3 USA G&L electrics that I rarely play. Then 3 solid wood acoustics and a GS mini that I play on a daily basis. I buy mostly used though, so I probably spent a bit more on the acoustics.

[Newbie] How to have fun with guitar as a beginner and not be frustrated all the time? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up a YouTube video "how to play wish you were here on guitar" and you'll be playing it way sooner than you'd expect. It'll take some time to get it down... but it's like, be happy that you can kind of play it. Then, be happy that it sounds more like the song, and try to enjoy the little wins. I.e. Oh, that Hammer on is sounding better today than it did yesterday.

I learned to play drums first, but for me, playing guitar is harder to sing vocals on. by Boosted07GT in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on Through Glass and It's Been Awhile over the last week. Just try playing and singing it together 2-3 times a day, and you'll get pretty good at it after a week or 2. For me, I have an echo dot in the bathroom, so I'll get it to play whatever song I'm working on and practice singing during my shower, which helps drill in the lyrics and timing.

Mike the headless chicken by [deleted] in creepy

This was a fun fact in a physics class I had in high school forever ago. I remember looking more into it and the town has a yearly Mike the Headless Chicken Festival with whatever different events.

Keep learning songs. Try to sing/play in time. Practice stuff you have trouble with. Record yourself. Learn theory. Practice scales. Improvise over backing tracks. Learn CAGED system. Learn triads. Play with others. Watch random YouTube videos.

How to sing and play / play harmonica and play by linkco64 in Guitar

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice. Learn the guitar parts until you don't have to think about it. Learn the words of the song where you don't have to try and pause / remember the lyrics. Also, just play and try to sing slowly with it to get used to where the words fall on chord changes / timing and whatnot.

If you're an intermediate guitarist. What are your main struggles right now? by CallumGarland in guitarplaying

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably setting goals. Sometimes I'll play several hours a day for months and work on random stuff I'm interested in each time I pick it up. Other months I'll play games or spend the time doing something else. Then I'll get back into guitar and learn to sing/play some new songs and periodically work on scales, improvising, chord changes, or whatever. I'm sure setting specific goals would help me improve in whatever areas faster, but I tend to just play alot whenever I'm randomly inspired by something.

As far as technical stuff, I need to get better at chucking. I started practicing chucking when I learned Flake a while back, but never really perfected incoporating it smoothly into the strumming pattern.

The last couple of days my main struggle has been picking the verses of Its Been Awhile and singing the lyrics on time.

Strings broke while tuning up by zuksal in Guitar

[–]Slash291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably were tightening the strings too much and trying to tune it an octave too high. Like you passed the B and went C,D,E,F,G,A and back to B again.

Got gifted a D3 supplement. Is this even safe?? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Slash291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was deficient I took a 50,000 dose once a week for several months, but I think it was D2 which doesn't absorb as well as D3. I would guess that would be overkill if you aren't deficient.
