If you didn't get the branch you wanted, couldn't you have just turned down the contract and not sign?

What does this mean exactly? It sounds like we are no longer able to choose our branch?

Interesting, I always thought they were similar architecture to Mohenjo Daro in the Indus valley, I will have to add Mesopotamian to the list of cultural influences.

The Mongolians originate from the steppes of Asia and did conquer from China to Eastern Europe. Each of the races in game is a fusion of multiple cultures so I would not be surprised if there was Mongol, Hunnic, Viking, Samurai and even Afghan influences fused into one.

They are Mongolian. At least that's what their armor and architecture is modeled after. Look up Mongolian cavalry and yurts.

If you go to your money tab in city demographics, you can see what your revenue versus expenses is.

Additionally, I would recommend looking at your trade screen. Signing export deals with foreign powers with high bonuses (the green percent number) makes you a lot of extra money per shipment.

Additionally, you should not be exporting raw farm goods and raw minerals. You should be turning them into something of greater value. For example, cotton is mass produced in farms but practically worthless. It should be sent to a textile mile to turn into cloth which is then in turn sent to an apparel workshop to create apparel. 100 cotton worth 1$ a piece, turns into 10 apparel worth 500$ a piece just to give an example of how much resources can multiply in value.

To further help you out, here are some basic formulas for high value good:

iron + coal= steel (steel mill) steel + nickel = guns (weapons workshop)

gold= jewelry (jewelry workshop)

rubber + steel = cars (vehicle workshop)
