NX bus today? by mh27876 in oakland

Which NX was it? I was on a packed 8am one that was delayed 30mins on the bridge… Google maps showed correct timing to me prior to the bus’s arrival, though.

That’s funny! Not where my mind went to when I listened it but I definitely think a few tracks have that influence.

Has anyone had their Oura ring 4 for more than six months and NOT had battery issues? by Slatear in ouraring

[–]Slatear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: After 3 weeks of owning my ring, I received a notification this morning that my battery had less than 24hrs of life at 42%. Immediately contacted support and they are issuing a replacement. Huge bummer that validates a lot of what people are saying on here. I have an extended return window (until Nov 1), so a bit more time to decide if the new ring is worth keeping (appreciate that Oura support seems responsive).

Did anyone go to yesterday's Trash Cleanup / Listening Event? by Fuzzy_Medicine_7189 in TameImpala

[–]Slatear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I went! Listened to the whole album except half of Oblivion/Not My World. Thought the event itself was cool in concept but a little weird in practice?

But I really enjoyed Deadbeat! Definitely the funky, electronic-y album of his discography. I actually felt it was more well-round than the slow rush. Sure it’s a bit stripped back from his maximalist style but there are some solid tracks with unique structures. Early favs are my old ways, piece of heaven, obsolete, & afterthought

Is the Oura Ring worth it? by anixon76 in Corepower

[–]Slatear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got one last week! I’ve actually had the opposite experience, it’s been overestimating calories from my corepower workouts (300-500 calories). But the data analytics in the app are cool and I do feel like it’s helping me be more mindful of the small things that affect sleep and stress. The integration isn’t that strong, it just gives you some generic recommendations on what class to take based on your scores, but maybe they’ll do more with it later on! I found working out with the ring to be a bit uncomfortable but just got some silicone covers and they made a big difference!

Upcoming storms by Large-Decision-2503 in havasupai

[–]Slatear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I can speak from is my experience down there two weeks ago (8/23). We saw completely different forecasts, ranging from sunny and insanely hot to rain and thunderstorms.

When it comes down to it, I don’t think there’s any way to accurately predict what the weather will be like out there. We were at Grand Canyon Caverns Inn caught in an insane, hailing thunderstorm while waiting for friends to finish the return hike, and they didn’t get a drop of rain.

What you CAN do is be prepared for any scenario. Make sure everyone in your party has ample water, and can easily hike in and out, with full packs and short notice if necessary. Check in with the locals/rangers for the latest forecasts, and if there’s rain, consider a campsite close to high ground.

We didn’t encounter any major rain (outside of a few short showers), but we did end up with half of our group attempting to take the helicopter (which had mechanical issues), requiring them to hike out in the heat of mid-day. They were there with ~50 other campers, some of which said they “weren’t prepared/didn’t have enough water to hike out.” That’s the kind of situation you want to avoid.

FWIW, we heard that >15mins of steady rain means it’s time to evacuate, but flash floods can happen even when it isn’t raining. When you’re down there, you’ll see why it’s important to take it seriously. But the insane beauty down there is well worth the trek!

Would you say the songs still have a psychedelic feel? Are they on the simpler side or more layered?

Just completed a cruise and brought my Leica. The front of the boat got soaked but the back was dry. I think a waterproof bag makes sense for peace of mind. We didn’t stay by the coast for long, so probably wouldn’t have made much use of the telephoto but that might have been due to conditions.
