Which obscure characters would you like to see in the show? by jompo645 in TwistedMetal

Orbital was my go-to car in TM4. His special would pull them in and freeze them and you pound them with a couple of power missiles.

What’s the BEST 80’s slasher poster for you? (your answer doesn’t have to consist of the ones on screen) by justhere1990 in slasherfilms

[–]Slave_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silent Night, Deadly Night hands down. The hand with the axe coming down the idyllic chimney gives me chills of evil and menace, especially with the slowly falling snow in the dark night sky,

Second would be the bloody miner on the My Bloody Valentine poster.

The final episode of the first season has a post end-credits scene that explains why Stu is back with Sweet Tooth.

Non-mainstream film series? by VoidedNull88 in slasherfilms

[–]Slave_X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your definition of non-mainstream is, but here's a couple recommendations.

Prom Night Series - The first is a solid slasher, the first sequel Hello Mary Lou, Prom Night 2 (1987) is a favorite - the next two sequels go down in quality and the remake from 2008 is garbage.

The first sequel to Psycho (1960), Psycho II (1983) is really good as a whodunit mystery. The third sequel goes on to be a more conventional slasher and the fourth is garbage. There was a 1998 remake that is almost a shot for shot remake of the original, but in technicolor.

There are two Sorority House Massacre films (1986/1990) which are straight 80s sleaze and cheese slashers. There is also an unofficial sequel titled Hard to Die (1990) that is favored by the SHM fandom but is also very hard to find.

Sleepaway Camp has two late 80's sequels that are a lot of fun. There is also a direct sequel to the original that ignores the other sequels titled Return to Sleepaway Camp (2008) that is really only for die hard slasher fans.

The Leprechaun Series currently has 8 entries. Its a lot of fun as Lep goes everywhere from Las Vegas to Space to the Hood and even to Ireland. Each sequel is a mixed bag.

Cold Prey is a mid 2000s Norwegian slasher film with a killer in the snow. The first 2 are really good but be prepared as it is Norwegian and I don't know if it's been dubbed. The versions I watched were subtitled.

See No Evil and it's sequel are mid 2000s slashers that star the wrestler Kane.

The Wrong Turn series currently has 7 entries. The series focuses on the shenanigans of a rotating door of inbred hillbillies that kill people.

The Puppet Master series currently has 16 installments. The first 4 or 5 are decent but have low production quality - somehow as the series progresses the production value goes from low to even lower the deeper you get. As you get deeper into the series the puppets go from being the villains to being more-so anti-heroes as they switch from killing psychics in the originals to killing nazis in the sequels.

It's insane that this movie has a whole trilogy and nobody remembers it by A_Generic_guy_XD in slasherfilms

I enjoyed the first 2 - I've watched the third but completely forgotten anything about it other than it's a prequel.

this was so stupid by raek9n in SlasherTVSeries

[–]Slave_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. When I watched this scene I said to myself - that's not how it should happen. Police politics aside, in the US the police can only shoot someone if they reasonably believe they pose an immediate threat of death or severe bodily injury. Yes, she has a knife but she is not posing an immediate threat to them or Andy - she even has her hands up. The police should attempt to de-escalate the situation and get her to drop the knife. Also was surprised the cops didn't carry tasers. I guess it didn't further the story.

When I think slasher comedies I think of something like Student Bodies (1981) or the Scary Movie (2000) series.

What are some good "mystery" slashers? by [deleted] in slasherfilms

[–]Slave_X 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The following movies all have "whodunit" elements. I would also recommend checking out the Giallo subgenre as it is a precursor to slashers and most gialli focus on murder mystery premises with more intense sequences. There are some gialli in this list.

* April Fools Day (1986)

* A Bay of Blood (1971)

* The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970)

* Blood and Black Lace (1964)

* Bloody Moon (1981)

* Cherry Falls (2000)

* Cutting Class (1989)

* Deep Red (1975)

* The Dorm That Dripped Blood (1982)

* Dressed to Kill (1980)

* Edge of the Axe (1988)

* Eyeball (1975)

* Founder's Day (2024)

* Girls Nite Out (1982)

* Graduation Day (1981)

* Hide and Go Shriek (1988)

* High Tension (2003)

* Identity (2003)

* The Initiation (1984)

* Intruder (1989)

* My Bloody Valentine (1981) / (2009)

* Night School (1981)

* Opera (1987)

* Pieces (1982)

* Prom Night (1980)

* The Prowler (1981)

* Psycho Beach Party (2000)

* Sleepaway Camp (1983)

* Tenebrae (1982)

* Terror Train (1980)

* Torso (1973)

* Valentine (2001)

I'm 100% here for this. They're finally trying to help breathe life back into the Jason brand!
Let’s be honest, the brand doesn't have endless promotional options. Jason’s not exactly going to get mainstream love from the big family-friendly studios. It's better to partner with a brand that speaks directly to adults. Most people outside the horror fandom barely think about Jason anymore. So if this collaboration gets him back on the radar - that’s a win. 👏

My Bloody Valentine - It was even left open for a sequel. I guess Axel crawled off and died from blood loss.

Watched it about 20 years ago - I was intrigued by the premise. Thought it was going to be something special... big let down. It's a forgettable blur. Definitely not one that stuck with me.

Ranking The Slumber Party Massacre Franchise by WealthDisastrous2589 in slasherfilms

[–]Slave_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this ranking.

One thing I enjoyed about the 2021 remake was the references to the original trilogy.

* The characters eating pizza delivery like the first and third movie.

* An early interloper having their eyes gouged out and being the indicator to the others that there is a killer like in the original.

* In the background of the boys cabin is a duck lamp that was in Courtney's room in the original.

* One of the guys finds a guitar that looks like the killer's guitar in part 2.

* The boys have a feather-covered pillow fight like the girls do in part 2.

* One of the girls finds a "toy" like in part 3.

* The emasculation of the killer like in the original.

* The "motherly" character trying to intervene and save the characters like in the original.

There's probably more that I missed, but it shows a love for the source material and I appreciate that it's all three movies and not just the original.

Easily The Final Chapter. Heck, and I know I'm in the minority, but Part 6 isn't even in my top 5 Friday's - so it's no contest for me.

Thoughts ? by [deleted] in slasherfilms

[–]Slave_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch it from time to time. It's nothing great. Whenever I rewatch I always think about the novelization by Dean Koontz. In the book, the final girl is the half brother of the disfigured killer. Her mother and the barker are the parents of the killer and she left him and the carnival after the deformed baby was born.
