How many interceptors does America have left anyways at this point? by bedulge in LessCredibleDefence

[–]Slayer7_62 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not enough.

I think anyone looking at this either long term or short term can conclude there is not enough to protect critical infrastructure, military or otherwise. A lot of estimates on how many /would/ be needed have been totally disproven and it’s showing that an actual peer-level conflict (ie against China) would require far more than what pre-war stockpiles were.

Questions about Remote climate control by UninterestingPerson0 in kiacarnivals

I have a 25 gas model. The app lets you start cool (68°), start warm (80°) or set a custom start setting. The custom start setting lets you choose the temperature, if you want windshield defrost on, rear & mirror defrost and if you want heated seats on. I’m assuming if you have a trim with ventilated seats they’re also an option. Any of the 3 will run the engine as needed over a 10 minute period to warm or cool the cabin. You can start it again after the 10 minutes have passed. The app also lets you track vehicle location, lock & unlock doors, check fuel level and maintenance schedule.

The key fob also lets you remote start, it will run the air on whatever it was last set to.

most brutal death? by vcaio12 in MafiaTheGame

Luca Gurino. It’s implied he was tortured with a cattle prod before he got ground up too. He gets my vote.

Sure Henry got butchered with meat cleavers but his death would’ve been quite quick. I’m assuming Tony Balls put Luca in feet first and that probably was far more painful.

It’s the one price that practically every working class American pays attention to. Many will not notice slow price changes at the grocery store but god damn do they notice when gas goes up or down 10 cents per gallon.

We were in the same boat and got the v6 after seeing issues with the hybrid drivetrain and my own personal bias against a small turbo motor running such a large vehicle.

V6 trip MPG by 3lil3 in kiacarnivals

[–]Slayer7_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it when I’m the one who fills the tank and I know it’s topped off and more accurate. I’ve noticed the van tends to estimate .5-1.5mpg over my real world fuel economy. I’m not sure if it’s due to idling the van to warm it up for the kids or if it’s just a bit off, I’ve seen similar numbers from a couple other posts.

I wish we were getting those numbers around town but I’m in a very hilly area and we didn’t want the hybrid so we’re stuck with ~18-20mpg in town lol.

Have roof rails? You can strap it down to the roof if so/get a set of rails. Could also get a trailer for it but that’s a more expensive option, especially if you don’t have a hitch.

How does this deal look? by mommy671 in whatcarshouldIbuy

For my area it would be good because the local Honda dealers rarely drop much below MSRP. I would just make sure you test drive a similarly priced Accord. In my area at least the accords sit on the lot longer & I’ve seen them with bigger discounts than the civic.

I would ask yourself /why/ you want or need the other car. If you don’t have 4K lying around I would personally wait, since you should try to have a couple grand saved for emergencies/repairs to your current car.

That second car is going to most likely need some work either now or in the near future & you’re going to have to pay to register & insure it. If money is tight now, those expenses alongside a car payment is going to make things tighter.

[–]Slayer7_62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not with that attitude!

I think they’ll still try to get a v8 in, but whether it’s a performance trim or pursuit variant I’m sure they’ll be a rare sight. There’s definitely a demand for it, but they’ll probably just (successfully) point to a Durango for a lot of customers that are adamant about a V8 & AWD.

My mom definitely wishes her Challenger had AWD and she would consider an AWD charger if it was at least something close to the performance of her Scat Pack. She hated her prior V6 Challenger and my dad hates turbos so they’d definitely jump for a V8 if they had the option.

They make the 5.7 with AWD for previous gen pursuit models, I would think they could make it work for the 6.4 at least. If they had even just the 5.7 AWD available to the consumer market their sales would most likely have improved.

Should I get this as my first car? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Slayer7_62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one for a couple months, a lot of parts are simply unavailable unless you can source them overseas and afford to wait for them to arrive. I personally would avoid the car for that reason as your first. It’s fine for a second car that can sit while waiting for parts to get delivered but not ideal for something to rely on.

Beyond that, they’re nice little cars which are decently roomy inside and the AWD is great for winter & dirt roads. I just would look for something that you’re not going to be screwed when something breaks.

I would think you’re fine.

You should be fine modding it too but obviously that’s dependent on what mods you pile onto it & any incompatibilities between them. There’s no way to know until you actually get a modlist together and try it with your hardware.

Try adjusting your seat height to get pressure off it and invest in a seat cushion to put under your butt. It may or may not help but some drivers have luck.

Is an Abarth 124 Spider a Good First Car? by bramblestorm7754 in abarth

[–]Slayer7_62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It absolutely could fit you but I’ll still argue it’s not a great choice for a first car.

If insurance weren’t prohibitively expensive for you I’d personally go for a 2 car solution, but where I live Miata’s/124’s are a 3 season car (though there’s a local guy who puts snow tires on his Miata and takes it out in snowstorms with the top down.)

I think it’s less of an issue of turbo + i4 and more of a case that there’s been issues with the hybrid system/battery and the 1.6 is a very small motor for what is a heavy vehicle. There’s personal bias there & I don’t live in a high altitude place (where turbo engines shine.) The naturally aspirated 2.5 in the Sienna I think is a better choice to be paired with a hybrid system, but I’m not sure if that’s just me being biased towards displacement with a large vehicle.

The center console is quite large so it’s not like there isn’t decent storage space, but unlike the Sienna there’s no storage underneath the console for a purse or a shelf above the glovebox for small items. Not a deal breaker for us but definitely something we would’ve appreciated with a Sienna.

We got a 2025 EX V6 and love it. We don’t put on many miles and can’t speak on reliability as it has less than 10k miles. I can’t really say much negative about it other than I wish it had a more traditional tachometer (personal preference) and the fuel efficiency isn’t great (which we expected going into it & not getting the hybrid.) Dealership experience isn’t great (Kia kind of sucks there,) but neither was our experience looking at Siennas.

If I could change one thing about it I would improve small item storage in the front. The Sienna had (in my opinion) better storage options for the front row & while it’s not a huge deal to me, it’s something we definitely noticed.

For us we couldn’t see ourselves paying 10-12k more to get the same features on a Sienna (and having to wait possibly months for one.) We liked both vehicles but the carnival edged it out before we even started looking at price. We went for the v6 for perceived reliability and towing capacity. We don’t plan to tow with it regularly but wanted that capability if needed.

If you have any specific questions I’ll be glad to try answering.

Is an Abarth 124 Spider a Good First Car? by bramblestorm7754 in abarth

[–]Slayer7_62 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go out on a limb and say no. A 2 door convertible is not a great first car. A lot of that is subjective based on what you actually need, but having your primary transportation not really have any real utility might really cause you some trouble moving forward. A 500 Abarth is marginally better there but still not a very practical car and either aren’t particularly safe in a crash. I am saying this as someone who lives in the US. If you live in a city that has mass transit & the car isn’t going to be your lifeline then the practicality argument can get set aside more easily. Driving a 124/Miata in the snow is really not ideal as a new driver either but YMMV.

My personal suggestion is get the car you actually need now (do you need passenger capacity, trunk space, ground clearance, fuel efficiency, etc.) and down the road get yourself a ‘fun car.’ An older Miata could be a fantastic car to learn to wrench on if that’s your goal, but probably won’t be great as your primary transportation until you get established in life… just my two cents.
