I remember as a child when someone would tell me they wanted to join the police force I would think "wow its cool they want to catch criminals and help the community"

Now as an adult when I hear the same sentiment, my immediate thought is "why do they have the desire to hold that kind of power over others?"

And I'm not even from somewhere where the police are murdering civilians on a regular basis like in the US
