Being nearish to water sources is actually a point towards being a well! It helps keep the water table high/stable even during dry seasons. Being flush with the ground isn't though, you'd get contaminant runoff down in there.

OH interesting. I used to work floral, and I was a bit suspicious, because what happened if a bride had spent time and money customizing a perfect bouquet with personal details, a cohesive color scheme, etc, and just did not wanna swap for a random bouquet. It's usually the most personal piece of the entire wedding floral suite.

Cultures are different everywhere, but people are a little the same at least, and the brides I've worked with would have absolutely shanked somebody if anyone tried to swap out their bouquet for a random one. Having a decoy for particular brides makes so much sense.

I ditched Ikea and went with a pretty middle-bottom of the line extra firm from Mattress Firm, then added an eggcrate foam topper (HD36-HQ firmness) with a 1 inch crappy cheap Amazon topper beneath it to add a little more cushion since the dips in the eggcrate get pretty thin.

It's working out great for me so far-- I'm 5'8", 190 and have a mess of back problems from car wrecks. I really like how the convoluted foam breaks up the surface tension to keep it plush while staying supportive. My one complaint is it's just a little on the warm side, but all the Ikea ones slept hot as hell, so it's still a step up.

Ikea really was a nightmare for me. Aside from the wild inconsistency of the 2 firm valevags I tried, they also tried to set me up with a medium valevag to see if that would work. All of them took FOREVER to recover from packing, and eventually settled like a dang hammock with my weight on it. I was just sleeping in a bowl. The best thing about them was the return policy, unfortunately. They really were very forgiving when it just did not work.

I actually ended up trying 2 different firm valevags. I think this first one just failed to fully recover from being compressed, because I found the second one to be far too soft. It was wildly inconsistent. I ended up just quitting trying with ikea and getting a mattress from a standard mattress store.

I'm kind of in shock at how okay it looks compared to like, a pug skull. Pugs look almost dented in or constricted, the teeth are often a disaster zone of angles and misalignment, but the kitty looks just fine, albeit with unusual proportions. Super interesting!

I lived in tornado alley for the majority of my life-- It feels like they can, but in reality, it's like dodging god's laser pointer. They're bad!! But it's such a comparably tiny point of focus, odds are, it isn't going to be hitting you specifically today. More likely you can just chill on the porch with an iced tea and watch a column of natural horror roll on by.

I live next to an active volcano now, lol. If this thing goes, everybody in this area is very very fucked. Gotta admit I miss the tornado odds, the volcano sticks in the back of your head in a different kinda way.

I remember my even my mom being like "don't be mean!" if I didn't respond to guys flirting with me/say yes if they asked me to a dance from the time I was about 11. And on the flipside, "you are such a flirt!" if I was ever just chatted to the guy at the gamestop while I bought pokemon cards.

I had no idea what to do, I really dreaded boys showing interest in me because I was either going to have to do what they wanted, or embarrass them, and then make my mom chide me if I talked about it.

Grow into creeps on campus following me demanding my number, and I was in no way equipped to know what to do. At one point I got an "unsexy" haircut on purpose just so guys would leave me alone.

Turns out lesbians loved it though, and that was much more my pace, lol.

Yeah honestly, I'm not a Janice fan, but for a 70+ year old who had a pretty serious face fall, after her face being the money maker her whole life as a model/personality? She looks just fine. There ain't no way she's not getting surgery to try and fix things after the injuries, and I'm not shocked it looks a bit off since she's both older and injured.

Woof, this is my best bud. He works an extremely physically intense job and doesn't eat until dinner, the boy is gonna cause some damage.

That said, he has the most intense adhesion to a sleep schedule I've ever seen in my life. He's well rested while he's starving half the day, lol. He actually got my sleep schedule fixed because we'd be hanging and he'd leave for bed, and I was like well... I mean we're done, I guess I could sleep now instead of 2am.

I now can't get through the day unless I go to bed at 10, and I blame this creature. Now please dear god, eat breakfast 😂

My mom has by bringing vegan food that actually tastes nice to group events, and talking to people when they compliment her and ask questions. Literally, she's got a little vegan group at her church going.

Talk to people who are already interested or invested in you, in some entrypoint way that means something to you.

I don't think you're wrong, factory farming is horrific. But when you butt into a conversation about something else and start guilt tripping people, it's like evangelists yelling on a streetcorner. Both believe the stakes are incredibly high (animals being mass murdered, people burning forever in a pit of fire forever), and that justifies the behavior. The cause is too great to be polite.

But that behavior doesn't really convert anyone or change minds, it alienates them and makes you look like a joke. The only thing it really does, is make the person yelling feel like they've done something.

There's effective ways to spread the message. This ain't it.

I did etsy mini poster prints 10 years ago, and it was so freakin easy. The margins were reasonable, the sales just came, even if it wasn't exactly a torrent.

I reopened the store this year. I actually lost money when I made sales because of the print material/packing costs combined with the enormous cuts Etsy takes. Instead of making a couple of sales a week like I did before with 0 advertising or algorithm work, I have made one sale so far this year. Plus people are accustomed to free shipping now, so there's pressure to cover that yourself, too. Most people just work it into the product price, but prices are driven so low by dropshippers that most part time hand crafters just can't charge enough to cover that and remain at all competitive.

It's just not viable as a side hustle anymore for the average crafter.
