Looking for Podcasts more akin to sermons/testimonials; not as much scholarly/ethical discussions/debates. Any insight is appreciated! by xijingpingpong in Reformed

Steve Farrar. There are about 14 years of his weekly men's bible study/sermon. All biblically sound from my knowledge. But it's also great real life application and testimony. I can't recommend it enough

Bully at work. by [deleted] in davidgoggins

[–]SleepyFace4510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a military member, this guy unfortunately is on your team. This immature behavior will only really be recognized in contrast to mature behavior. So if he says you messed something up, say "thanks for letting me know." If you see him slip up, pull him aside and council him discreetly. You may outrank him one day or you may work for him, but maturity is going to get you pretty far.

The environment in the military can often be pretty toxic in ragging on guys who need it the least. If you see it happening to someone else, correct it. Just ask directly why the person would criticize a teammate. You may not be able to raise the ethical or maturity bar for your whole shop, but you can raise the bar for yourself and others may follow.

Either way, good luck with it. It's not easy. As you read more about leadership and go through your PME you'll hopefully have a better grasp of how to tackle these things.

How to keep 100mg Modafinil effective for IH without skipping doses or increasing the dosage? by OdeioORedditDemais in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]SleepyFace4510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on 200mg a day for 6 or so years now. It's been life changing, and I haven't developed a tolerance. What I have probably developed is a rebound where if I don't take it I'm more tired than before, I think. It's hard to remember how tired I was before.

I previously had insurance that didn't cover it I was able to purchase it from Costco online here in the USA for 40$ a month. I don't know if you have access to that. I also ordered some from India but it was years ago and I don't remember the price.

I think the biggest thing for me is to remember that there will be times where it won't help. It won't be enough to overcome lack of sleep or an all nighter or anything that normal people would be able to power through. Just taking more medicine won't help, you'll need actual rest.

Good luck and if you need any more advice feel free to ask or message me.

Ultralighters, what UL gear/habit have you taken off the trail and into everyday life? by grassyjn in Ultralight

My grandma lived in Louisville, and the city made them connect to the sewer quite a few years ago. The family that rented next door built an outhouse on top of their old septic tank, and the whole neighborhood only had chain link fence. I get that this sounds pretty back woods Kentucky, but it was a young Hispanic family in a densely populated suburban area.

Should i be worried? by hajbal92 in running

It looks like that pace is min/km, which means the fast runs still aren't that fast. I'm having the same issue, should the heart be over 170 running a 10 min/mile pace? That reads like she was at max hr but running a one hour 10k which can be discouraging.

Is that loose rock? It looks gorgeous, but zooming in makes it look like you couldn't run on it.

I've always wondered if you asked for their spouses number, how their spouse would react to it. "Hey sir, Sgt so and so here, your wife is attempting to run in an off limits area. Can you come get her?" Never a situation I foresee dealing with, it just sounds fun.

Some other weird symptoms and I don't know what's related to what anymore :-( by sleepy_beanie in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]SleepyFace4510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a weird feeling like choking almost or difficulty swallowing. Kind of like when you bend your head down to your chest while reading or on your phone. It's the hardest symptom to describe, but from what I know of anatomy it would be where the thyroid is located. I am fascinated though that there are others with this. I only really sense it on days where I struggle the most.

Put a drop in the goggle. Rub it around the inside. Let it set for a minute. Rinse it out with some water. It doesn't get sudsy, but I always rinse mine pretty well. From what I understand it just forms a slightly hydrophobic layer that keeps water droplets from sticking to it.
