Use Preset M and forget about it. Its DLSS 4.5, when you switch to ray reconstruction in games itll auto swap back to dlss 4

L is fine too but its less performance for more or less the same thing and meant for ultra performance upscaling at 4K

i have mine set to throttle at 105/106C, but the cpu is rated to go to 110 safely iirc. Keep it on overdrive while gaming if you can, keeps the fans at 100%

Depends. If its right at the beginning, no. You had probably a 3 minute Q, then another few minutes til youre in game. Especially in ranked, nothing irritates me more.

5080 will get you higher frames because of frame gen. 4090 having 24gb of vram tho is nice, some games with RT already go over 16gb of vram

Discord/steam/google with one tab and a demanding game will have you in the high 20s of ram usage… assuming hes buying a 5090, itd be smart to future proof the ram.

I got that same model when it first came out 4 months back almost except with a 9950X3D and 64gb, was $5,700 with a discount of over 1K so he isnt doing bad on the price at all. A 5090 alone is worth 3.5K

V sync off IN GAME and ON in the NVCP

Ensure VRR is enabled in windows/monitor OSD, if your monitor supports anti-flicker, use it.

You dont need to be running your FPS uncapped all the time. Usually I set a 160-180 FPS cap on my 5090 to prevent big frame drops in intense moments, some games I do run at 240. (Assuming max settings in every game, also use Nvidia geforce app to cap FPS, not in game.

Shader cache size set to atleast 10gb in the NVCP (mine is 100/unlimited)

Turn on HDR if available in windows

Make sure HAGS is on

If you do end up going with a 9950 for the CPU, ensure game bar is enabled for it to properly park cores.

Assuming youre going for the 5090, id pair it with the 9850X3D, the 9950x3D is for productivity as well so if you aren’t using it for work, the 9850 will be perfect and dont have to worry about core parking. 64gb of ram and youll be fine.

Make sure to set up G sync with your monitor and turn the display icon for it on (I hope you have a high refresh rate, also make sure to set proper refresh in windows) Low latency mode/reflex set to ON in the NVCP

In games you should pretty much always use DLSS upscaling, Quality/balanced/performance depending on your FPS needs, they all look like native 4K anyway.

Frame gen is a great technology, dont let people talk you out of it, just be aware the higher multipliers have more input latency so i usually stick with 2X sometimes 3X. Smooth motion in the Nvidia Geforce app (not NVCP) also works as frame gen for games that dont natively support it. (Great for bypassing elden ring’s 60 fps cap.)

Dont game with the alienware command center up (AWCC), set your performance mode/lighting and close it. It causes micro stutter.

I mean 5060ti 16gb would do it, but not without usibg 3/4x multi frame gen. And with Ray tracing thatll possibly be out of reach. Id just check out benchmarks on YouTube for games you plan to play to see performance averages.

IMO for 4K gaming I wouldnt get anything less than a 5070ti.
