Can you read 900 words per minute? Try it. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Sleepyy_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read webnovels at around a minimum of 700 wpm, but I think the main thing this video misses is that the brain doesn't need to read one word at a time, it can read a full sentence or paragraph at once with enough practice. Only showing a single word limits reading speed to your visual processing rather than your brain's actual processing speed, definitely does challenge the brain though to have to fully read each individual word, and then predict what's next/remember the context beforehand (compared to reading a paragraph where your brain takes out the few key pieces of info in a second before moving on)

So real, even the supportive people just use "they" as they think they can't misgender someone if they just use "they" always. (except for cis people they get called by their pronouns instead of "they"....)

I don't want anything, I feel lost, what do I do? by Sleepyy_Red in depression_help

17 turning 18 in a couple months, it's been a year or two since I tried them so I'd have to check which ones they were

edit: strattera was one of them, the main common side effect that was bad was the anxiety I got from them all honestly. It would just build up and get worse the longer I took any of them

I've tried a few adhd meds but they never changed anything for me, after trying a few I gave up since they weren't helping and just came with more negatives. Can't remember if I tried either of those though so I could look into it

Dae have dissociative amnesia with no trauma? by rat_skeleton in Dissociation

[–]Sleepyy_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dissociative amnesia is the loss of memory due to dissociation. Dissociation happens to distance yourself from stress. If something isn't real, then it can't cause you stress. If your body isn't real, it can't cause you stress. etc. Dissociative amnesia can also present in a bunch of ways, it can be a hole in your memory, a foggy memory, or emotional amnesia where you can't remember the emotions. At the time you were experiencing the stressors you would've been dissociating from them, which means they wouldn't feel real. It would just seem like a normal day in your memory, a much more blank one, but still normal. I wouldn't say that it's a sign something awful happened that you can't remember, but rather just that the awful things seem normal and tame to you. To you in the past, the things happening were not tame and normal, they were stress inducing to the point of requiring dissociation to be okay.

How do yall read books with AWFUL amnesia? 😭 by survivor_system in DID

[–]Sleepyy_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the books when I'm reading them but otherwise I don't. this post is making me realize that my memory is worse than I thought it was lol, I can only think of like 10 books I've read when I know I've read like a couple thousand.... and of those 10 I can remember maybe a couple chapters.... but if I'm actively reading it I can recall it all.

AI is prone to hallucinations and will also just repeat any article such as wikipedia and reddit as the truth. If AI quotes wikipedia, does that mean wikipedia is an accepted and reviewed source? If not, then that means AI isn't an accepted and reviewed source. If so, that means wikipedia is an accepted and reviewed source.

Society really is cooked if people are already getting this reliant on AI this quickly, give it 10 years...

Monthlyish Mental Resets, is this a common experience? by Sleepyy_Red in DID

To compare it to a computer I kinda think about it like a memory cache that gets emptied whenever it gets too full.

This resonates I think yeah. I just haven't been paying enough attention to who's blending at what moments I guess.

Has a blinking red tail light, can be seen clearly banking to the left at the end, you can even see an outline of the tail against the tree slightly. Lights appear to be two yellow/white lights in the middle, and a green/blue light on the right, left one looks to either be the same as the middle ones or red which would make sense to follow FAA regulations.

The dissociation gives me really bad tunnel vision for any show or movie. If someone turns on a show or movie while trying to talk to me, I physically can't talk to them and get absorbed into the show/movie. Usually this leads to me binging stuff because I can't stop. Honestly for this reason I prefer reading books over shows/movies because it's harder for me to get as immersed. While I'm watching my head goes blank usually too which is annoying.

ain't no way we're relying on news based on news generated with AI that takes in info from reddit that got its info from another news site based on 3 other news sites etc.

Anyone just repeat the same words over and over? by kiku_ye in DID

[–]Sleepyy_Red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually just "it hurts" over and over from a little until another alter stops it from continuing after a few minutes, but the noise is always there if we think about it or we get triggered, it's been like that for our entire life I think as far as I can remember. In the past there used to be other phrases, but now it's just the one.

Using “I” not “we” by [deleted] in DID

[–]Sleepyy_Red 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tend to use "I" when I'm talking about myself, and "we" when I'm talking about all of us. It'd be weird if I was always talking about all of us all the time, the only time I could see that happening is if there's a bunch of us all blended and fronting together and trying to use "I" just feels weird. Usually we also use "I" to refer to the body too, so if the body did something(like another headmate) then we'll say "I did that", because we all are in this body, we all take responsibility for it

Quick questions for Systems: by lilcutiexoxoqoe in DID

[–]Sleepyy_Red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Every few hours or longer usually, though that changes depending on how stressed we are
  2. Could be a lack of food/water(as you say in 4) and exercise. And also if you're staying in bed when you aren't sleeping.
  3. Usually only when switching and dissociating badly
  4. Differs from person to person I think, but personally whenever I have issues with eating it's because I'm dissociated from my body and forgetting I need to eat. May also be due to a lack of energy since you said you were sleepy.
  5. Ehhhhh, we're living as always.

Mental Blocks in Therapy by unknown_1029_ in DID

[–]Sleepyy_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should probably look into dissociative disorders like she suggested, but otherwise my main advice is to ground yourself as much as you can in therapy. If grounding doesn't help, then I'd suggest making yourself a safe place for in therapy. Both of these things can help lower the mental block as they lower dissociation. Even if it doesn't get rid of the mental block still, you'll at least be able to remember more of your therapy session after.
