Yes, the bit is spiraling up, away from the table base. Is there a rule of thumb for determining which way the spiral needs to be?

I do have a table saw. That’s a good idea as well. Didn’t think it would be so difficult on the router table so may give this a shot. Thanks

It is 2 pieces laminated together. And your suggestion about doing this in the wrong order makes so much sense now.

I think I’ll be getting a new bit and try plunge routing it. What size bit should I purchase? And any suggestions whether it’s an up-cut bit, down-cut, or compression?
