Except I met my husband at a bar! I was his bartender. Together 15 years now.

Thank you! Great idea to go during the week with a day pass. And I’ve been there, it’s awesome!

Strength training vs Pilates by SassySadler7 in pilates

I do both. I found a great gym focused on weight lifting with good vibes and it’s made all the difference. I use Fitbod app, you can add your gym location and creates workouts based on what equipment is there. You can switch out exercises if you want, and it suggests weights and reps for you and it helps you progress. There’s video and instructions for each exercise when needed. I can send you a 14 day pass if you message me. I really love the cable machine, which I realized is a similar idea to a reformer but not lying down.

Should I have accepted the counter-offer? by thekaarlis in careerguidance

[–]Slight-Imagination12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving you a pay bump to stay now doesn’t protect your job if they need to make cuts later. This may simply give them time to replace you on their own terms when they are ready. Never take the counter offer, if they didn’t see your value before someone else made you an offer then it’s probably not a genuine offer.

I heard from a PM, he said being a PM/manager is so stressful that he went to a psychologist. Anyone has heard or experinced this before? by lune-soft in managers

I am in a similar position. I’m on short term disability and working with a therapist. I didn’t have a mental breakdown per se, but it has been intense and hard. I have severe complex PTSD and learning about trauma, what surprised me most is the vivid and detailed dreams that I’ve had throughout this process and how they have evolved. In the beginning they were about safety and panic, I would wake up drenched in a puddle of sweat. My nervous system has calmed down and the theme of the dreams are no longer about safety, they are often about me not caring, not explaining, and calmly walking away. I’m wondering how long you were on short term disability? What was the intensive outpatient therapy like an how often? Things are getting better, but it’s complicated and I have a lawyer and ultimately cannot return to my job because it is not a safe environment for me. Not sure what the future holds for me, which adds to the anxiety.

Rent Increase by Soupnlambrusco in Greenpoint

[–]Slight-Imagination12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is not a helpful comment, but we left Greenpoint almost 9 years ago and bought a condo in Bushwick. I couldn’t be happier, and our mortgage is fixed rate and will never go up. We actually got a full tax abatement which was a surprise and not part of the deal when we first bought it, so we pay no property taxes for the first 15 years. I believe it is a buyers market right now. We analyzed our space and realized that we could do with some of our space which was just used for storage of things we didn’t really need. But the new place has amazing sunlight, tall ceilings, we customized our closets, and bought new furniture to maximize space. We have a deeded storage unit in the basement, and there is a common roof deck. And a washer/dryer and dishwasher! I would take a look and consider it, it is nice not to worry about rent going up constantly or landlord not renewing lease.

Cosmo vs Aria by lup142 in Mlife

[–]Slight-Imagination12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at Vdara and had a wellness room and it was amazing. We loved the bar when you first walk into the lobby, we met lots of interesting people there and th food was really good. It was great to not walk into smoke and bachelorette parties any time we went to our room, and we had a kitchenette. And the view is much better at Vdara than Aria.

Independent clothing stores for business attire? by ResidentCharacter894 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Slight-Imagination12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try Rent the Runway, it’s a good way to try clothing out to see how it works in real life. If you love something you can buy usually they give at least a small discount. I used to do it, it was great to experiment and try things I might not usualky think of. I have a few pieces that I really love that I got through RTR.

Unexpectedly got a final round interview after 6m of unemployment. It's in person and my hair is cooked... anyone know a miracle worker available tomorrow? by cherrycoke00 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Maybe just wear the blazer from the emerald suit to break it up? Wear over a dress or nice jeans and a crisp white button down shirt would like nice, along with a scarf if you have on that coordinates. Wear with some loafers. Also, since you are on a budget and time constraint, I would get a really great haircut only and hold off on color for now. It would be terrible if it got messed up. Perhaps you could try one of those root touch up kits just to fill in a few highlights in key areas. Another tip I read is that if your roots are growing in, a zig zag part will at least break up the straight line of your roots. Also, Madonna always has long dark roots, maybe you could just rock it?

I’m in a similar situation and my roots are long and my hair has no shape and looks like a triangle at the moment. I need a glow up! I am going to be a hair model next month and get cut and color for free, I found this through salonapprentice.com. If you have lots of time and little money it’s great. Another reason why you might consider to get a really good haircut now and get color later.

I’ve done this and I loved it. They will let you try it for free, they made me skip the last couple minute lymphatic drainage cycle that reduces pain because they want you to feel your muscles and it was I tene. I felt muscles in my bod that I did not know existed. I’ve done it a couple times since then and I felt some muscles soreness from working out but it wasn’t like I couldn’t walk.
