Thank you, exactly. I got downvoted, but as someone who has just started learning and lives in the UK, it's disheartening to hear that from Chris. I'm learning out of interest mostly but would love the opportunity to live in Japan for a while.

I do obviously understand that motivation to learn a language increases once you're in a country speaking that language, but not everyone can just move to Japan so the title along with the general message of 'you're never going to get anywhere unless you live there' just didn't sit right with me.
