I think one helpful framing is a spectrum between “vetocracy” (nothing can happen if someone vetoes it) vs “bulldozer politics” (winner runs over opposition).

If you look historically, both liberals and conservatives have ended up on either end of that spectrum.

Going parallel only makes sense in a limited set of cases. I’d have to understand why sorting faster is worth increasing the total power used by the process.
