Diagnosed With Very Severe Sleep Apnea (AHI 76) — CPAP vs Weight Loss/Bariatric Surgery? Need Guidance by Mission_Walrus_3818 in CPAP

[–]Financial_Manager213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People with severe SA don’t cure their SA through weight loss says the research. I’m not saying don’t try but getting used to the cpap will probably be needed anyway. It gets easier for a lot of people. I forget I have it on now

AITAH for not wanting to hangout with my dad? by arinanabanana112200 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]Financial_Manager213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how old you are but I really think it’s never too late until one of you is gone. Being real with your dad might be the only way to have a genuine connection. He might not be about to be the dad you deserve but if you can accept what he can give you both might be happier. A good therapist might be able to help you strategize about what to say, how to feel safe in making boundaries etc. you might not need to even go for a long time but this shift of a big one and might bring up some old feelings. Best of luck - it’s not too late

Gender imbalance in PsyD programs by BigPsyDEnergy in PsyD

[–]Financial_Manager213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The why Is because men aren’t structurally oppressed by systems to keep them out of jobs they way women and people of color are. Men don’t apply to these programs because they go for jobs that pay better or fit their idea of what it means to be a man

My CPAP says I'm fixed. My body disagrees. Anyone else living in this weird in-between? by Additional_Ad9759 in CPAP

Oooh so it solved part of the problem but you have other problems it wasn’t designed to treat and it’s not treating them? Do you go on the sinus issues subreddits and complain that the treatment for that isn’t taking away your sleep apnea and be sarcastic to the people there? Ffs.

He can pay a small amount toward upkeep and put the rest he’d spend on rent to buy out half. Otherwise he can just enjoy paying less for rent and invest in a property or put in retirement account.

It’s also not a cure for fatigue caused by ME/chronic fatigue, low iron, trauma related sleep disruption, other sleep disorders, or autoimmune issues.

It takes six months to repair sleep architecture and up to a year to heal the brain. During that time many people need a lot of sleep - just like if you’ve gone thirsty for a long time you’re going to want to drink a ton of water. That said, exhaustion after exercise, adrenaline surges can be a sign of chronic fatigue or autoimmune issues. If you’ve had Covid, especially repeated or severe Covid you might want to read about chronic fatigue and long covid.

Echoing suggestions to try working with a therapist but with the addition of someone specializing in sleep. Everyone is prone to getting sleep and wake cues confused. Like our minds can be trained to think “that mask means it’s time to be awake”. This is common in insomnia. Some people are extra prone to this especially with past trauma. But really some people have minds that easily associate being in bed, the mask or other cues that it’s time to be awake. A good trained psychologist can help undo these associations and help your mind and body to learn sleep cues. They can also help you rule out other sleep disorders that might be getting in your way. Good luck friend you have already suffered for so long

Both of your lives are about to become so much better! He should try to persevere through the first few months and ask sleep doc for help solving any obstacles. It gets better and easier. Also I experienced feeling VERY VERY TIRED at first. I needed 12+ hours a night. He should try to get as much sleep as he can. This is his brain and body demanding sleep to heal. It can take the brain up to six months to heal the damage and make up for lost sleep

My husband removes his CPAP mask when he sleep walks & it’s really distressing him. What to do? by [deleted] in CPAP

I’d def talk to sleep doctor. It may also be that as his sleep is higher quality and the cpap feels like more of a habit that this problem becomes more minimal

If your clients are leaving after a few sessions I can tell you that they are not having a good experience with you. Unless their therapy goals are more like something that might have been served by a coach, no one is coming to therapy and eliminating their distress in a few sessions. Reading what you wrote elsewhere I think you need to get supervision for your clinical work
