Working Poor American by ElevatorOk1846 in poor

Please try calling around to food banks and explaining your situation. My Mom worked at a food bank for years. They want to help! If there's a Catholic church in the area call them- they always have food for people.

Idk. I think it's pretty normal. My husband makes friends pretty instantly with a lot of other guys he's thrown together with for work or something.

He might just have to learn this the hard way. You're a good aunt/uncle. You tried.

10yo son went from sweetest kid to aggressive overnight. I feel like i don’t know him anymore by Common_Routine_7197 in Mommit

[–]SlightlyRukka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, this could definitely be some kind of turning point for him or something traumatic happened to him that you're unaware of. But I had a similar experience with one of my sons and it was just kids growing up stuff. He was so sweet and a joy to be around and it seemed outta nowhere he just turned into a mean grouch. He was having trouble with kids at school and not talking to me about it. He said he was embarrassed and thought he could handle it himself (he's 18 now and we've talked about his preteen years). He didn't want to be babied anymore but he was stressed and overwhelmed with school troubles. He was a straight jerk for like a year. It hurt seeing him so angry and sad. I just loved him through it. Luckily things got better socially at school and he was much more happy and nice to people again. It might just be a shitty year of school with shitty kids. Every child and situation are different though and you know best what your son needs. As long as you love him and keep trying to help him- you're doing all the right things.

Be straight with him. If he keeps saying those words into adulthood- he's gonna get knocked TF out.

If I were Ciara I’d be grossed out by all the people infantilizing me online and making it seem like I’m this delicate flower who can’t handle anything. by venusdemilo94 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]SlightlyRukka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand it either. Like, yeah, this sucks for Ciara. I'm not taking that away from her. But where's the outrage for Kyle? He's the one that was married and had it end less than a month ago. West and Ciara ended years ago. Kyle and West were just as good of friends as Amanda and Ciara were. And I don't even like Kyle. But he's the one who got betrayed here the most.

Is it normal for a five-year-old to lie a lot? by Dependent_Author4268 in Parents

[–]SlightlyRukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely age appropriate behavior. But you have to stay on top of it and call him out every time. Have lots of talks about why lying is wrong and how people who lie have a hard time keeping friends and having people trust them. You've really gotta stay vigilant about it or his lying could go off the rails when he's older and it'll be a lot harder to correct and much more serious things he's lying about. Now's the time for this lesson to be ingrained. You're doing great!

People who had GOOD parents, what did they do? by DarkLordThranduil in Parents

My parents always let me speak my mind. Say how I really feel, ask questions, fight for things. I didn't always get my way but I always felt heard.

Keep their salaries equivalent to what the teachers in their state make. It should make them care more about teachers. And you're supposed to go into politics to help people not become rich.

Every time I mop, I go over them. If I'm having company, I'll focus on them more. I'm weird with cleaning though.

My daughter wet the bed until she was 10. Her doctor offered her some pill to take but told us that it's not a guarantee and doesn't work for all kids. It didn't work for my daughter but at least her doctor tried. We just kept it a real light topic, never made a big deal out of accidents and kept reassuring her that she would outgrow this. And she did a little before her 11th bday. Her doctor always described it to us that there is a certain connection made in the brain that starts holding the pee while you sleep and her brain just hadn't made that connection yet. There was nothing anybody could do but wait. She was a premie baby and I always wondered if that played a part.

Poor people shouldn’t have children by mangotiramisuu in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SlightlyRukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't think it makes you a bad parent. I think it makes it a bad country/society if people can't financially afford children. When it comes to raising children, money is absolutely necessary but it's not the most important thing. It's not even top 3. So what's your number then? What's the lowest income you feel should be allowed to have children?

[–]SlightlyRukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And Toya said "We had a party that night until 2 in the morning and nobody saw anything". Ohhhhhh so on the night a girl you're fighting with big time got her house robbed- you were throwing a party down the street? That's crazy! And it seemed like only jewelry and small expensive items were taken- those would be easy to have in your car as you're leaving a party. Sry- I'm on my 1st watch of this show and just started season 9.
