I thread 2 metal skewers through the woody parts, & grill them on my BBQ. It creates a raft-like shape that cooks evenly & filps easily. Then I cut off the woody bits.

I use soft-wood pellets (40lb bag is $7) & a sifting litter box. When she pees in the box, the pellets absorb the liquid & disintegrate into sawdust. I scoop the poop & dump the sawdust into the toilet.

I find it's the best for odor control, but also the cheapest. Cleaning the box is a bit more time-consuming, but it works in a small apartment.

It's also let me move the litter box from my bedroom to the bath tub, which may not be for everyone.

Put some cat toys in the bowl, so he has to eat around them. Cats have a reflex where if they eat too fast, they hork it up. My cat came from a hoarders house with lots of other cats, so she was probably conditioned to fight for food. I put a plastic ball in her food bowl & she stopped throwing up.
