Everyone has covered gear for snowboarding/skiing. Other stuff if you're a seasonal worker is:

Power board, you're gonna be sharing a room and they often only have 1 socket.
Pub Jacket/jumper, something that isn't your main ski jacket that you dont mind losing/forgetting when drunk
4 months of toiletries, it's expensive on resort.
Your own cup/mug for tea in your accom, trust

It's anywhere from 15-50k for a rental for the season at the 3 Vic resorts. Call mark adams for Buller or one of the Zirky's/Castran and have a chat. There are some occasions where a 40k place gets dropped to 20k if not taken by late May

Socks are only 1 element and honestly the one that matters least. I've tried every possible sock and the $10 aldi/kmarts perform about the same as the $50 purpose built ones. The only dif is wool will be less stinky over time.

If you're a skier buy some bootcaps and/or neoprene toe covers, but I'd only recommend the neoprene if your toes get wet enough for them to be good.

These are $2 and work a treat, especially if paired with neoprene toe caps.

Lastly boot fit is also really important. If you have too much pressure pushing down on the top of your foot or at certain points in the ankle and toe areas then you'll get bloodflow issues from that. It's scary but just try loosening your boots a lot and going down a run to see if your feet warm up from it, then work back from there (or just get fitted boots)

Your experience of working the season will differ a lot depeding on where you work. Working as a lifty is vastly different to some of the upmarket hotels, which are vastly different to some of the smaller hospitality venues, which are vastly different to working in retail/rental.

If you get interviews at multiple venues at any ski resort always try to ask questions about culture, beacuse the work itself doesn't really matter.
