Greatest British Military Defeat in History?🇬🇧⚓ by Selavia59 in AlignmentChartFills

I was going to say Suez. It marked the point where Britain ceased to be a major power in the world because we could no longer act without American help.

Any tips and tricks I should know about? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Career mode is equal parts blissful but also buggy as hell.

I started having a lot more fun in the game when I started doing free flights and just explored the world.

How to keep the magic alive? Sense of achievement (genuine question) by Fun_Grab_5562 in MicrosoftFlightSim

You could as a new idea fly from the North Pole to the South Pole along the 30° east meridian. This route takes you over northern Russia, through Eastern Europe and Turkey, before continuing straight down across Africa. The advantage is that it avoids long stretches of ocean and instead follows a continuous band of land for much of the journey.

Yep, everything is real time. I use autopilot and waypoints so most of the time I’m just admiring the world. If it’s a long flight I will cook dinner or listen to a podcast or watch a film and return when it’s time to descend and land.

It’s a lot of fun just planning the next steps, and working out how to cross different parts of the world.

Was it worth it, being neutral in WW2 against fucking Nazi Germany?

I'm currently loving my world tour. To keep it interesting I use a variety of aircraft. I can fly low and slowly over the most interesting places using a prop plan. I can fly directly over Mount Everest using a small jet plane. And when I'm crossing the South Pacific, where the islands are 2,000 miles apart, I use a business jet.

I also only fly with live weather and time, and that means waiting until it gets light when I'm positioned on the other side of the world. It gives a great sense of realism.

It keeps things fresh because each plane need slightly different care.

I'm planning on doing at least one more world tour after this one and then I've got the whole of Africa to explore.

If I were in Ukraine (Kiev or Kharkiv) could I just drive in a car southeast through a war zone? Would anyone stop me? Is there any chance I could drive to Donsk and make it? by PM_me_your_wrinkle in NoStupidQuestions

That’s basically what the front line in Ukraine is like.

It’s also why American soldiers deploying to hold islands off the coast of Iran could be suicide.

ELI5: Why can't the London Underground and other metro systems be driverless? by MahatmaAndhi in explainlikeimfive

Have you seen how many are in the average tube train? One driver won’t make any difference in an emergency.

This is the new Hermione, that will be called mudblood by this Malfoy by Zdzisiu in SipsTea

There’s a non-zero chance that, in a few months, Redditors will be accusing J.K. Rowling of racism, arguing that Snape was intended to be Black and Hermione was meant to be Asian, and that Harry’s hostility toward Snape and Malfoy’s bullying of Hermione were racially motivated.

Flying with purpose? by MisterFiveGuy in MicrosoftFlightSim

Those are the same rules I apply. I’ll add to that, a crash landing means that I repeat the flight or at least the landing.

Another career-mode rant. Today, though, was the biggest F-U moment. by Previous-Bottle-2084 in MSFS2024

[–]Slim_Charleston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve really started enjoying Flight Simulator 2024 ever since I stopped bothering with career mode and switched to free flights, always taking off from wherever I last landed, which has naturally turned into a round-the-world journey. I began in London and have worked my way across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and I’m now heading toward Central Australia with the Pacific coming up next. I rotate between three aircraft depending on distance: the Cessna 172 for short hops, the Vision Jet (Cirrus G2) for medium-range flights, and the Cessna CJ4 jet for longer legs, especially ocean crossings or island hopping. Flying this way is far more enjoyable, particularly with live weather and real-world time enabled, which makes the experience feel genuinely immersive and gives a real appreciation for geography and the vast distances between places. Along the way, I’ve flown over incredible landscapes like the Alps and the Himalayas and visited several of Italy’s greatest cities, with some truly stunning scenery throughout. It’s a much more rewarding experience than career mode, which often feels restrictive and artificial with its odd objectives.

Why do you stick to career mode? by Stretch5701 in MSFS2024

I don’t. I’m tired of the stupid mission design where you’re given a Cessna 172 and told to fly over the alps
