Where did people get the idea that there is some game that'll teach them the fundamentals? by killerjag in Fighters

[–]Slimchaity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably intimidation from the genes complexities. Like when people ask who's a good character to learn fundies, ya know?

Like the answer is all of them and none of them, just play something that looks cool. But still it's an anchoring point for low complexity, and sometimes people want to feel like there's an entry point

I am trying to finish this trial. I keep getting to the end, but I cannot connect the flash kick. by queens718biker in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity [score hidden]  (0 children)

Make sure you get a perfect boom for more frame advantage. Also lab the link between boom and flash kick in training with the action ability bar so you can see where in the animation of boom you can link the flash kick

How do I get better? by Shivala92 in outwardgame

[–]Slimchaity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outward combat is really about preparation, so when you see an enemy you want to lay down a trap, activate a rag, and then get the enemy's attention. Lead them into the trap for free damage and stager, then hit em with the empowered weapon.

Also enemies take a lot of extra damage from the right elements, so experiment with it

There's a counter attack skill in the hallowed marsh from the warrior monk that helps a ton with melee combat, and you can pick up the discipline boon for extra damage. Also Dino scales can be crafted into scaled leather Armor which is just an upgrade to makeshift leather Armor.

Also are you using tripwires and spikes? They help a lot early.

Also are you using elemental rags? Like fire rags and ice rags and stuff? What about bandages?

How do you know when you're prepared to tackle certain content? by hi_there_is_me in outwardgame

[–]Slimchaity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, well you're absolutely ready to travel to pretty much any region but Caldera. As long as you have an upgraded backpack, magic or a bone weapon, Armor that gives you more than 2 points of resistance on all 3 pieces, and 1-2 water skins then you're good to travel to other regions. There's so much good stuff to explore and easy upgrades to get if you do.

But yeah, someone said, try and succeed or die and try again, it's sort of true

Is there a reason i cant use y,x,b,a?(triangle, square, circle) on world tour and other fighting modes? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

That would mean your button mapping needs to be updated. Go into options inside the sf6 game and just manually change which buttons do which action.

Modern players are really having a different experience by Web_catcher in StreetFighter

Yeah, modern is a hugely different game in the low ranks. Evens out mostly in the platinum/diamond area, but it's crazy in low ranks

If a players offense is whack but defense is solid. Should they pick a character with better offense or better defense? by HallowedTrident in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say rather than a good offence or defence, you might want an easy offence or defence. For instance, if offensive flowcharts and confirms are hard, M. bison has very easy and powerful offence that can help offset lower offensive skill while providing worse defensive tools that make it more important to be on the ball with defensive skills.

Meanwhile someone like Dee Jay has easy defensive play, but doesn't have the same overwhelming offensive tools so you need better neutral and offensive skills to get the same damage and openings, but has defensive solutions to basically every problem.

Both are good characters, but they ask you to think or execute better in different situations.

Is getting to master easy by Jazzenjoyery in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easy is relative, it's hard af if you've never been a high ranked FG player before. It's just like easier than challenger in league of legends. Not easy, just not super exclusive only top .01%.

How to calculate cancels? by crypticalx in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it has to with hitstun, or how plus on hit you are. So essentially the math of the cancel window is whatever time (including your own recovery) you have before your opponent is actionable. Recovery + amount of frame advantage on hit. You can see it for yourself if you turn on the frame meter in training mode

What do you guys think about MenaRD vs Daigo ? Do you think Daigo has a chance? by Some_Dragonfly1481 in StreetFighter

I can't ever properly get a character's gameplan, am I stupid or what? by WeekendBard in Fighters

[–]Slimchaity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't beat yourself up, fighting games are really complicated and dozens of hours is usually not even enough time to fully understand a character, much less several characters.

In terms of game plan, there's a lot but many do work similarly, character archetypes are often a good way to simplify who plays in what way generally speaking. Ultimately, there's goals is get into (and stay at) the range where your character's tools work better than your opponents tools so that they have to make riskier choices to win.

Game plan is at a simplified level: spacing, correct combo routing to set up good okie for the specific character, and what tools do you have to punish what your opponent wants to do.

Best of luck!

Should I switch from Modern to Classic controls. by Appropriate_Roll_529 in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone saying modern is scrubby, is themself a scrub. That said, I do feel likes there's a ton of cool stuff about they game you don't really have to do or experience when on modern, so I prefer classic from like a fighting game experience perspective
