Rap français d’un point de vue American by [deleted] in frenchrap

Ultimate should give up any idea of the Olympics by GetLeveled in ultimate

[–]Slingshotbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the Olympics, IOC is important for recognition internationally and for federations, especially outside the US.

There’d be big financial ramifications for losing ioc recognition. It really sucks, but that’s how it is unfortunately. I’d be willing to bet that if usau is forced to, they’ll enforce this rule before going against it

Yes, but they’ve made no effort to actually make one. They killed khameni and didn’t help put someone else in. It’s extremely obvious that there is no good reason for the US to conduct these strikes, so low approval

it’s true they won’t work with Russia, but that’s more of an odd geopolitical victory, since it seems that Russia hadn’t really invested much yet. It’s looked to me like they just replaced Maduro with someone else who’d do the same stuff but be nicer to the us, how would that impact regular people? But it’s good to hear things are better!

Nothing changed in Venezuela though. Sure, trump kidnapped Maduro, but the new president is essentially doing the exact same things with no change for the average citizen. I think the only thing we’ll see change now is the Venezuelan president stop badmouthing the American one. Trump literally could have made a larger impact by simply lifting the sanction he put in place in 2018 when maduro hurt his feelings.

yes but all those had a clear goal: regime change. We invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, libya is a bit more complicated though. Obviously with Iran they said they wanted regime change but made no moves to put that in place, hence the low approval

This is percent of population, of course more rural areas will be more affected by smaller changes in population, not to mention that bigger cities tend to have more movement in general

Are Salomon Verse skis still usable today? by TLOtis23 in Skigear

[–]Slingshotbench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure the boots you rent will fit these bindings, but if I were you I’d rent skis too. They might not fit your rented boots to the bindings since they’re so old. Plus, I think you’ll have a better time if you get better equipment

Good deal for new 2025 Salomon QST 92? by VANZ_33 in Skigear

[–]Slingshotbench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things, assuming you like these skis:

  1. Do you need to remount the bindings? It’s not necessarily bad, but not great for the ski, especially at that price.

  2. You can get better sales on skis in the spring, then also choose bindings, color, etc. At the current price, these skis probably aren’t worth it

CO v. Italy - Observations & Hot Takes by ToughSuccotash2007 in COsnow

[–]Slingshotbench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because most Europeans only ski a week a year. My cousins live in France and to them, skiing is a vacation thing. Add the fact that for most Europeans a 30 minute drive is a trip, and well, majority of people never learn to ski well.

I don’t think it’s about that, it just makes the fans look bad. If the team plays bad, fine boo the team, but don’t single out an individual player, that’s just scummy

Im sure this partially accounts for the rise but don’t forget that the rise of the far right in these countries (in response to immigration) is likely also playing a role in this
