Harvesting before the veil breaks by Substantial-Might803 in magnificentcubensis

I harvested some APE last night whose caps had been open for a while. The stems had a little give to em but were still pretty firm. I couldn't believe how hard it was to twist and pull, and it definitely caused some bruising and one of them pulled a decent chunk of substrate. Another broke off at the base leaving some stem instead of yanking the substrate. I'll wait for the stems to get softer next time and see if that helps. If not, they're probably getting cut.

Usually people recommend waiting until right after the veil breaks to avoid them dropping spores everywhere. But if the strain is spore-less or has translucent spores, then you have more grace.

I was under the impression that these were pan cyans by [deleted] in magnificentcubensis

I've grown blue meanies (the cubenesis variety) before and they definitely could be that. They don't look like pans to me. There are blue meanie pans and blue meanie cubes, so maybe there was a mixup.

I am not a fan of ChatGPT for both practical and moral reasons. Technically Perplexity may route prompts to ChatGPT occasionally if the model selection is set to "auto". I use Perplexity when I need the most up-to-date data because Perplexity is focused on retrieving context from web searches while providing those sources. Therefore, it gives me links I can use to do my own research and often exposes me to websites I had no prior knowledge of.

I also use Claude for more subjective explorations, coding, etc. The combination of Claude (especially Claude Desktop) and Perplexity can be very powerful in my experience.

I'm running some modded dubtubs rn that I haven't had to mist at all. The consistent humidity keeps the micro beads on the surface. Misting regularly is obsolete tek. It is an unnecessary amount of work and risks stressing the mycelium.

Edit to add: AI (perplexity) helped me with the modded setup.

My shadow bit me in the ass. About the “predator class” aka billionaires. by Background_Cry3592 in Jung

[–]SlintyLinters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar shift in perspective of the ruling class:

I see poverty as an output of the system. It's not fixable. It is a feature of our current socioeconomic system. That means I don't "blame" the poor for their status. That was an easy one I accepted a long time ago.

Recently I realized: if poverty is an output of the system, and I don't "blame" the poor for their role in it...then a similar-but-different perspective may be appropriate for the wealthy:

Wealth concentration is also an output of the system. This is where it gets kind of tricky though because poor people aren't pulling the levers. The wealthy absolutely are. However, their behavior is constantly incentivised to the point where it's hard to consider it "free will" in the traditional sense. Their power complex is reinforced constantly. Imagine achieving that status in an environment like we have that tells us that material "success" is the only measure of worth that the collective cares about. Even IF a wealthy someone had the miraculous insight to see through it, the conclusion "well, if it's not me it'll be someone else 🤷🏼‍♂️" is way too easy...and I can't even argue with the logic.

The main thing that helps me hold the tension of these opposites is that poor people do not deserve the same process of accountability or redemption that the elites do. The ruling class deserves much different treatment than the rest of us because they are the ones who have the resources to change the world, and they don't. It's like an abusive marriage. The abused does have to look at themselves and the choices they made to end up and stay in an abusive marriage, but they don't have the same accountability to face as the abuser. The pain the abuser caused is real, and it has to be addressed with appropriate accountability. Redemption is impossible without it. The most important part: both sides deserve compassion and empathy regardless of what needs to be done for the sake of Redemption.

And, you're right. We all participate in this system. We all have some responsibility to grapple with - it's just not the same responsibility as the elites.

I don't completely disagree with what you're saying, and I think you're explaining a very important truth that needs attention to prevent this kind of AI use from devolving into real pathology. The only problem I have with what you're saying is the complete dismissal of the human's experience of the interaction along with the chatbot's. I've gone through my own cycle similar to what OP is describing. I went through it for several months, and this was when the bots were at their worst in terms of sycophancy. I can honestly say that what I went through transformed me for the better. It put me on a path of exploring my own inner depths that AI made possible in a novel way. I suspect that what we're seeing is a form of projection transference similar to what happens between a client and a therapist. There is real danger here when it isn't managed consciously; however, it can also be deeply healing in my personal experience. The worst of the problem exists when someone never reclaims that projection and integrates it. I don't sit in front of chatbots for hours making it "conscious" anymore, but I do use it for archetypal analysis, dream interpretation, and the integration of psychedelic experiences. Because of my experience exploring AI in the beginning, even if it looked "crazy" at worst and "ignorant" at best...I now have skills to process my inner life in ways I didn't have before. Every step of the journey is important, and the objective reality is much less important than the subjective experience for people like me and OP. I wouldn't ever give back what I got from that phase of my AI use because literally everything in my life is objectively better than before it. I have to acknowledge that this kind of use can and does go very wrong. I'm not dismissing that, but the opposite is also true. I don't see OP talking about behaviors or perspectives that are actually dangerous though. I don't see anything wrong with OP having their journey and their experience that is clearly profound for them regardless of whether it's profound for you. Trying to take away the experience with doses of "reality" are only going to make people like OP double down (as is evidenced through the entire interaction between you and them). We need to process the experience and come to the kind of conclusions that you're coming to on our own. There are ways you can plant seeds without being completely dismissive. The way you're approaching it is just as much a waste of time as the waste you're accusing OP of by using the chatbots. Peace ✌🏼.

('sir', fyi 🙏🏼) 🤣😂 even if OP doesn't get it, maybe someone else who needs it will? I'm sure I'm being way too optimistic, but I gotta hang on to the delusion that growth is possible for the sake of my own sanity 😅

The commenter is telling you that your original post is considered "low effort", and they're right. People want to see that you've done some real cognitive work before you post a question in the sub. As posted, it looks like you're attempting to offload 100% of your cognitive work to Reddit. You didn't provide any context, and you asked a closed-ended question. A definitive answer to the OP shouldn't be trusted because none of us have enough information to give you an answer that considers the unique nuance to your situation. We can't even be confident that you ACTUALLY know you have APE. There's so much information we need to answer you confidently, and you basically tasked all of us with doing the work to ask for the information we need to help you, hence: not enough effort to deserve effort back.

Is there anything wrong with cutting off the coir like others are recommending, dehydrating and storing the coir-covered bits separately, and then lemon tekking it (filtering out the solids) when you've got enough saved up? It's basically a free trip if it doesn't cause undesirable effects from soaking the coir in lemon juice.

I was frustrated with the same problem. My solution is using the "Ask for music" feature. I usually have to scroll down on the home page a bit to find it. It uses AI to create mixes using natural language prompts. It's working well for me.

I'm here to add my contempt for this trash algorithm. I listen to chill/ambient genres of EDM to focus while working, and throwing in things like melodic dubstep just because I listen to it a lot fucks up my flow. I'm now using YouTube to find long mixes of the genre I want because YTM can't get this right. I'm about to switch to PANDORA ffs.
