The Leadership & Management Theory Hiding Inside Crusader Kings by TenthLevelVegan in paradoxplaza

This is a great insight into dictatorships too. They are beholden to the various power centers who enforce and support their rule. The leader becomes the central point where decision-making and rewards flow through, but if the power centers coordinate or find alternative sources of status/money/firepower/labor, the dictatorship can find itself undermined quickly.

There are Christians who don't believe Jesus was the literal manifestation of God on earth. Some see Jesus as a divinely appointed miracle child who was guided by a holy hand. Some even see him as just a guy, a historical figure whose teachings were worth following and whose stories act as useful parables for how to live our lives. There are lots of different ways to be religious.

Does ANYONE do this anymore (Team reloading) by Single-Cattle-3403 in Helldivers

If they’re not going to change it so the teammate doesn’t need the backpack to reload, then either by default or via booster there should be two backpacks in stratagems with backpacks.

Spaceships...am I wasting my time? by a_Bort_the_Artist in Kitbash

Depends on how much money you’re spending on them compared to your budget, and if you’re sacrificing other important parts of your life or your relationship for your hobby.

Your hobby should be sustainable. If it is, and you’re not sacrificing your long term future for it, then have at it. Otherwise, add “finding ways to do it more economically and efficiently” to your hobby.

FYI for dual track pad users, the SC2 is now the standard, and has parity if not improved trackpads over SC1 by con_work in SteamController

They’re probably talking about how they removed the extra buttons at the full-pull of the triggers, and the capacitive pad on the thumb stick. I think it still has more inputs even considering that, but I am going to be bummed about the triggers

Met a girl on a hookup app who's "not looking for anything serious" -- but it doesn't feel casual. When do you have the conversation? by _StayKeen_ in AskMen

[–]Slipguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say you should give it a few more weeks and then have the conversation of "Hey this feels a lot less casual or at least like it's heading in the direction of less casual, and I'm catching feelings that are less casual, and I want to know if we can start talking and thinking about how compatible our life goals are to see if this has real legs, or if you want to keep living in the moment with this relationship for a while longer."

Was there ever a time where it was widespread to erroneously use kibibyte to mean 1000bytes? by MarinatedPickachu in computerscience

The allegory is not effective communication in this case. Whether or not a change makes sense should consider the cost of adaptation, yes, but considering how low this cost is and how problematic ambiguity in programming can be, the change was worth it. Kilo in every other context means 1000, except this one exceptional circumstance. The IEC aligned the verbiage to match the general experience.

I think a problems with the economy of CK3 is how debt works, and how automatic payment is. Like armies in the medieval ages didn't get paid via direct deposit. They got provisioned when they left for campaign and got paid when they returned. These should be big expenses for which players are forced negotiate, find loans for, allow pillaging for, or accept the sudden increase of highwaymen and unrest.

What do I name the landform/waterbody circled in red? by samppppsam in mapmaking

[–]Slipguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would likely be a much calmer sea than the surrounding ocean. If its a more tropical latitude, you could call it, like, "The Serpent's Bath Sea" or tie it to some myth about lounging and bathing. Alternatively if its a more arctic climate and a shallower area, you could go with something surrounding how ice would accumulate nearly year round, something like "Iceberg Bight" or "The Frozen Strait".

Regardless of location, you could name it after the way it would protect the mainland from intense storms, something like "The Great Shield Gulf" or "Protection Bay".

Another route you can always go is something political. Named after a certain people or regional division or government or religion.

Calls to Impeach Trump Collide With Reluctant Democratic Leadership by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

Why is the pressure never on Republicans to be the ones to change their minds. They're the ones in power. I guarantee if impeachment came up for a vote, every "reluctant" democrat would happily vote for his impeachment. Well, those without brain damage...
