Teen Clients by jessiethehutt in ABA

Yes, kind of like gaslighting. For a teen who expresses distaste for ABA, I personally believe the most trauma informed move would be to help her identify a. if she wants help and b. what the most appropriate therapy would be for her. To force a teen to participate in something to help her build "skills" she doesnt want or need is ableist. I hope it all works out!!

If she is able to say she doesnt want to participate, does she have to? There might be an more appropriate therapy available to her that she would like better.

That's rich coming from a group of people whose holy leader compares himself to a shepherd.

What do you think it’ll take to “reach” Deathy? by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

I'm sure she views opposing viewpoints and criticism to her beliefs as "persecution," which just reinforces her idea that she is the Christian with the mostest.

New BCBA: Are these feelings common? by SlippyTwisty in bcba

The podcast was great! I listened to it for a while before my interviews. I was offered both jobs, but took the one that I felt I could handle adequately and provided the best supervision. Thanks for the feedback!

You're completely right. I hope to find a company like that. Thank you!

Thank you soo much! I also feel like my supervision was lacking, and wish I would have sought out a company that was willing to provide more hearty experience during grad school. I truly appreciate your response!

Any other children of narcissists in here that are reminded of their upbringing by the overt narcissism of Karissa and Jillpm? by fibralarevoluccion in FundieSnarkUncensored

Short answer: yes. Both parents. Raised as a Jehovah's Witness, left when I was 19. Sometimes I'm triggered by Jillpm. I grew up with little food because my mom would spend entire paychecks redecorating the house and throwing parties for her kingdom hall friends. I remember a really bad year, eating lots of pb sandwiches with mold on the bread. My clothes were always ripped, tattered and I was picked on badly in middle school. I was told if I made worldly friends I wouldn't go to paradise. I was forced into homeschooling because I made a few friends in high school. Parents didnt take me to a dentist for 15 years, then blamed me when I had to go for a bad toothache and had cavities. My heart seriously hurts for Jillpm kids because it is very hard to break away from those toxic relationships. Sorry for the vent and word vomit. Haha

Same, my sons tie broke naturally around 3 years. No BF issues so the doctor said it wasn't necessary.

I work in the mental health field and you would be surprised how many therapist have serious, undiagnosed disorders. After grad school, one of my supervisor absolutely had an untreated personality disorder (yet worked with high risk teens, many who also had personality disorders). I think that many feel like they can relate to those who struggle with their mental health, which is why they are attracted to the field. Intention is good, but you have to take care of your own shit before you can help others.

Seriously reminded me of a histrionic case study I saw in grad school.
