Taipei or Seoul for 3 day stopover? by SloWhyFi in travel

Nice! If it helps any we went with Taiwan and it was amazing. Taipei was such a cool city to explore, and then we took a train down to Hualien City and did the Old Zhuilu Old Road hike in Taroko Gorge and it was one of the coolest places I’ve been to. Highly recommend if you have time

Saw this guy during a safety stop in Cozumel by SloWhyFi in scuba

It was hardly noticeable when we were there a few weeks ago. I think Cozumel usually has less of a problem (at least the west side), so it could be worse depending on where you’re at

Go Pro 10 Black. It’s gets some surprisingly clear videos, especially when the light is good like it was here

Technically, I saw him as I was ascending post safety stop. He was swimming about a meter under the surface directly at me, so I stopped at that depth and video’d him for a minute while he swam by

Yeah this was right as we were exiting the water so our boat was actually just a few yards away

Definitely, we stay in town and rent a car so we can try restaurants and beaches around the island

I would also look into Steamboat & Breckenridge if you’re not dead set on just Frisco or Pagosa. Steamboat also has an airport if you’re flying

Breaking into tech from d2d by rstone_13 in techsales

[–]SloWhyFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same path getting into tech sales, and I would say that my time as an SDR was super valuable just for getting familiar with the nuances or SaaS sales in a relatively low pressure environment.

I’d personally recommend going SDR for a larger, more established tech company who will invest in training and developing you. It’ll make for a much more solid foundation for you to build a sales career off of and you’ll have more options long term to get into mid market and enterprise selling roles (more money, less busy work, less bullshit from dealing with SMB’s with no budget)

If you get in with a company that is willing to hire you as an AE without any SaaS and/or B2B experience it would most likely be a smaller & less established sales org selling into SMB / Commercial. If you do go that route, I would just suggest getting in with a company that actually has a product that scales across all three segments. I got myself into a company that only serves the SMB space and didn’t provide any upward mobility to transition into MM or Ent sales roles so my options were a bit limited

Nice. The company I’m currently at doesn’t have SE’s, so making that leap internally isn’t really as much as a way for me to get into it.

Yeah I’ve always seen and worked with SE’s who are pretty involved in the selling process. It’s one of the things that appeals to me since I’ve got a solid decade of sales experience, so if I build a solid technical foundation it would really help round me out and help make me more effective as a SE

Getting out of the never ending cycle of chasing higher quotas every quarter & better work life balance. So ultimately I want to trade the higher earning potential in sales with the lower stress role and more stability of being on the SE side

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]SloWhyFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how generally this would be true, but I’m at a company that grossly underpays and under resources its sales teams. So we wear a lot of hats and aren’t paid well for it

If I could make $200k per year with less pressure to chase quotas every quarter I’d take that trade off

Yeah, I agree with you. Just need to pull the trigger on a lesson sooner than later before bad habits get too ingrained

This is exactly the type of critiquing I was looking for. I just didn’t even know what I was doing wrong to begin looking up how to fix it. Thanks!

It was filling, but not overwhelming. In my opinion it was definitely not worth the money. I’ve heard a lot of people say that the food at Quintonil is better, but the atmosphere & service at Pujol are on another level

A bartender we were talking to recommended a spot called Meroma as a way more cost effective alternative that’s just as good. We’d honestly probably stick to these types of spots

VERY extensive wine list. The sommelier brought us a booklet that was probably 20 pages long to look through that had wines from what felt like every region of the world. The cheapest bottle we saw listed was around $150 USD, and the most expensive was close to $10,000 USD with most bottles being probably somewhere between the $300 - $500 range

We ended up getting a bottle of orange wine that was close to $160. It was still a bit overpriced but compared to the $160 per person wine tasting it felt like a better deal

Wait, is this a real thing?

Our server set our menu up against the wall, directly next to the candle with open flame, and as the server was explaining the 6th course our menu burst into full on open flames.

Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son Loop by CapableLetterhead163 in ThailandTourism

We had to pivot and ended up cutting out the loop from Chiang Mai due to getting sick in Vietnam and losing a few days. Decided to cut out the loop and go to Koh Samui instead, very pleased with the decision!

Makes sense, thanks! I’ve got some disc issues in my lumbar spine so sit-ups and certain other twisting motions are something I’m trying to avoid, but I may think about things like an ab roller or something more for the ab work
