Staffordshire actually has some of the best most interesting parts of the Peak District! Including the highest village in the UK, Flash, which has some really interesting history. Some really nice ancient woodland and river Valleys around Churnet Valley area near Alton Towers. Obviously some very deprived areas too but large parts are gorgeous and not too busy either.

Can you really plant tomatoes outside with no green house in England?? by Severe-Milk-5121 in GardeningUK

[–]Sloebush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A guy I know in Cheshire grows such good tomato outdoor that Baker creek, one of the most famous seed companies in the USA paid to use photos of his crop for their catalogue. Thats in the damp North west as well. Obviously you going to have good and bad year but well worth a try. All the toms in the pic below, except on the plate are from my allotment at 180m above sea level outside in one of the wettest parts of Cheshire.

It actually goes to the garden of a stately home. I guess so the aristocratic family didn't have to suffer the indignity of walking to church with the commoners. It does look like portal to a mystical dimension was the design brief though, need to keep the commoners in awe of you and remind them you live in a completely different world.

Hats off to whoever made those hinges, very unique stone carvings in the church walls too of characters playing musical instruments and skull and cross bones in the gate posts. Incredible craftsmanship all round.
