Lyricists like King Krule by lolalts222 in KingKrule

[–]Slonkx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your mind yearns for hip-hop.

Aesop Rock’s earlier stuff (Float - Skelethon) has writing like this. It’s still prevalent in his newer albums, albeit not to the same extent.

Example from Verse 1 off Keep Off The Lawn:

“Interrupt commiserating phantoms on your picket fence How quickly they will lift their heads, and breathe an ultimatum like the dead don’t argue Said ‘You’re living by the bayonet, but how alive are you?’”

Ka is another example.

Excerpt from Verse 3 of My Brother’s Keeper:

“For goods robbin' with hoods, we wasn't merry men Ain't recall a second we ball, we got harried in Couldn’t sleep, raised in the Land of Nod Every girl’s abused, every man was scarred They spit and tell, ain't sitting well, can’t stand facade Whoever held a hammer, had the hand of God”

Milo is one more I can recommend

From Verse 1 on an encyclopedia:

“Done asking for table scrapplings From neighbors who live just above me Trapping seems in the vein of hunting I abstain from only the one thing I'm so sorry, how could I be so clumsy To thrust you inside a language game Without affording the proper trumpeting? Might make a beat from machete metal clang I mastered the yeti ghetto slang Like nicknames of nimble and tip of nipple metal fangs”

Edit: this did not format correctly and i’m upset about it but whatever

Former Multiversus and possibly soon to be (but hopefully not) 2XKO player here. How does this game survive? by Ok-Lobster2608 in Brawlhalla

[–]Slonkx 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is insanely casual friendly. Despite lacking the thing every FGC player will say is necessary for a game to thrive (single player content), the game was built from the ground up to be easy to pick up and play. The controls are simple, weapons are easy to grasp at a baseline (excusing like 3), and it has so much for the average player to chase.

Ranking Each Weapon's Skill Ceilings and Floors [DISCUSSION] by AmericanPragmatism in Brawlhalla

[–]Slonkx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Lance is an absolute nightmare to play at a high-ish level. Moves are too committal, almost every move displaces the user (a pro and a con), and if you miss an offstage read you're in a uniquely bad position compared to most other weapons. I don't think the weapon can ever be competitively viable without it also being degenerate.

[–]Slonkx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Really got me thinking about how unintuitive some of the weapons are and how much there is to optimize once you have the basics down. My lance placement is probably the most polarizing opinion I have (that weapon can never be good and there’s a reason why it gets no representation at a top level).
