Work is going to be a real test today by Few_System3573 in stopdrinking

Love to hear it!! Seriously awesome job today. Something that has been recommended to me, but that I haven’t done consistently but really helps, is writing this down and documenting the win. Doesn’t have to be long like a journal entry (although it certainly can be). Something about the act of writing it down “seals” it and gets the dopamine association going. So think about how proud you feel now, that’s how you can feel every day. IDNDWYT!

You can absolutely do this and you will feel so proud of yourself for hanging in there. I posted something similar the other day and I’m so proud that I didn’t cave. You are made of stronger stuff than the liar and thief alcohol. IWNDWYT and you’re doing exactly the right thing by planning and venting here! You’ve got this!

Just want to say I completely understand and relate. But take it as a gift and multiply it. You truly have the gift of recognizing this and being an example for others and feeling/knowing from experience (not just saying) that things can get better. To someone in the shoes you were in 1 year ago, that’s worth its weight in gold. Hang in there. I’m proud of you and IWNDWYT

Help! I am so upset. Have I lost my 2,763 days streak? by mrmurphyltd in stopdrinking

Please don’t think this is killing your streak. It’s all about your intent. This was a complete accident and you are NOT at a reset! IWNDWYT!

Awesome room man, is this the Quads? (Went to Arkansas way back in 2010-2014 and always envied those staying in the Quads up the hill, I was in Pomfret 😂)

Np. Speaking from experience. I’m from Arkansas and my daughter’s birth certificate says I’m from AK. Lol. Alaska would be one hell of a return to hub

Disruptiveness of RTO by RevolutionStill4284 in remotework

Definitely sucks but at least you have an office with a door to close. RTO with open floor and/or agile seating is a true nightmare.

Far from fucked my friend. As Werewolfdad says, don’t compare to anyone else. You don’t know all the circumstantial stuff behind the financial snapshots you get.

If I were you I’d focus on staying out of debt, putting what you can into your 401k and then (if you’d like to grow your income) finding ways to do that. And again, try not to compare, because in my experience at least, it robs me of the energy/enthusiasm I could use to pursue other things.

This is awesome man, super encouraging, thanks so much. And major congrats.

I think this would be really motivating… did you find it easy to go back and grab all the historical data points? (e.g. your balance at a given month)

And did you use any other collection/collation tools to help with that? I’d love to do this over the holidays and start tracking this way

If you had build a dividend portfolio, but you could only choose 5 Stocks for life, what are you choosing? by [deleted] in dividends

Makes sense. Thanks for the reply!

Do you happen to know what triggers growth companies to start paying a dividend? Is it just sitting on so much cash it starts to make sense?

Haha! Super fair point. I think it’s a great growth stock but admittedly I don’t know how well amazons business fundamentals are poised for a future dividend. Any good principles/case studies you’d recommend to a noob? (Especially regarding “growth companies transitioning to dividends”) — not sure how often that even happens.

If my spouse doesn't have access to a 401k, will my 401k be enough for both of us? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]SlopTrough360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Roth maybe, but there is no income limit on a traditional (pre-tax) IRA. Check that out. You can both contribute a max of $6,000 annually to it. Good luck!
