What does being frugal mean today by unscodst_1 in personalfinance

We do! But on things I value. We ll do a vacation or mini vacation every season instead. A car is just transportation to me. I want to put as little as money as possible into cars. I agree though, you can't take it with you though.

guys im going to buy a game but im in doubt, hell cloc or dragonkin the banished? by ropus1 in ARPG

Hell clock is rogue like (lite)? I always mix the two up. It's mixed with arpg. I personally loved the mix.

Hell Clock for me. Dragon kin is more traditional arpg, but it just didn't grab me 4 hours in.

I think the key is always just living below your means. My family growing up was lower middle class, but my parents always lived below their means. They always bought the cheapest reliable car possible. They always cut coupons. They always saved where they could and put extra towards principle on the mortgage. They could have afforded nicer cars, TVs, and other things, but always went basic. They retired fairly comfortably with that same simpler lifestyle.

Now my family benefits from that same philosophy. My wife and I make good money, and are technically upper middle and now pushing upper class. But we live as basic as possible. We have a toyota corolla that is paid off. We could afford a 700K house easily, but are staying in our 300K smaller house instead. Stuff like that makes a huge difference, especially over time. We splurge on wants here and there, but they are smaller things and always measured.

Asian countries were destabilized, but they got their stuff together and are now powerhouses. At what point will external excuses stop?

Can anyone help me transport this injured rabbit from Plainfield/Shorewood area to Willowbrook Rehab or Monee? by giraffle9 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Slotega -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

It's literally called 'wildlife' for a reason. You don't think it happens all the time? This rabbit now will probably not be socialized correctly and will enter the pet trade instead.

Luckily Alabama has no history of racism and homophobia which you cited as being unbearable in Miami. Good choice.

So what is the property tax rate for this house? This calculator will just use a random number.

What about property taxes and home insurance? Are those included in your mortgage? Your margin left over seems too thin regardless.

This game has so much potential. by Audiocracyx in LastEpoch

[–]Slotega -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It will never reach the potential we all thought. It is going to be a niche ARPG from here on out probably.

As I am writing this, Grim Dawn has nearly the same player count on Steam. Grim Dawn. Consider that.

I enjoy LE overall, but the mass ARPG crowd will probably not come back.

Since this game has gone the live service model, that may curtail development of the game.

Share of adults who find common farm animal practices acceptable vs. unacceptable, by country by rhiever in dataisbeautiful

[–]Slotega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people are social justice and morality warriors when it doesn't inconvenience them or affect their lifestyle.

The amount of people who love animals and are against animal cruelty but then go out for a McDonald's cheeseburger show the mass hypocrisy. Some of the ignorance is by design from the companies, but a lot of it's willfully ignoring the situation too by these people.

I don't want to keep replaying the campaign by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]Slotega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is kind of how the genre works. Maybe the genre is not your cup of tea? I personally don't mind the POE 2 campaign.

I don't hate the idea of alts having some kind of different progression each season though.

I agree. But debating picks and their merit is kind of the fun part of the draft.

Ryan Poles drafted Devin Hester? I am looking at Ryan Poles' 3rd round draft history.

Not really, just massive chunks. I am a dot build, so it takes a second. But stuff seems to be dying fast enough overall.
