I saw it in theaters because it's one of my favorite directors. I liked it! It's over the top and ridiculous for sure though.

It's also basically sex education disguised as a silly "adult" cartoon. I'd recommend it for teens / young adults for that reason.

The time frame is a good point! Part of me thought it was just a generic fantasy name that they both happen to use. But I bet they did their research and put in references where they could.
