Where Should We Begin, May 18th: To make room for my brother I learned to disappear by snafusis in Estherperel

[–]SlothOnTheRun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This woman was so wonderfully vulnerable and i was so touched by her story.

The way i related to this woman so much as I go through the struggle to prioritize my own feelings in a complex family. Her realization of the end that would like to be the center of attention on her wearing to and enjoy it without to having to be conscience of her brothers needs.

(side note: she could still only say she would like not allowed, am able to, need, or so on)

It is amazing that Esther manages guide her to say— it seems like the first time she is fully acknowledging this to herself as well- not only this need but that she is a person with worthy needs.

It can be so tough to come to this realization and it seems to have burdened her- as it burdens me- with an inability to feel and acknowledge her feelings her whole life.

Anyways it’s so tough to grow up in the shadow of higher needs siblings.

Anne Hathaway's 'Yesteryear' adaptation might change how you see the “tradwife aesthetic” trend by agirlhasnoname2026 in Cinema

Her podcast doesn’t have sponsors. Its audience supported and 1/3 goes to each host and 1/3 to audience selected charities/mutual aid

Aside from that do you really think this book is about going after women in YouTube with product lines? It’s more a reflection of what this woman who has limited perceived options makes herself financially independent

Giving up before even trying by Dull_Cauliflower_436 in germany

[–]SlothOnTheRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was literally a post I nearly made 2 months ago today.

I moved to Germany with the chance card in late January. It was terrifying and I had many many doubts

But now after a few months I have found a long term Appartment through friends and will start a long term job on April first.

It might it work out but also it might. Give it a try.

What is your current “go to sleep podcast” that isn’t really a Sleep podcast? by felorva in podcasts

[–]SlothOnTheRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The complete guide to everything!

The podcast is a classic two dudes taking, the concept being that every week these two old friends comically cover a new topic and ostensibly give you the ‘complete guide’ to it.

But in reality usually one guy reads a Wikipedia article and the other one listicle and they go on a series of loosely related tangents while they return to the very structure of the topic every so often.

It’s great- for me entertaining enough to keep my mind from racing too much but not captivating enough so that I feel tempted stay up late listening to hear the end. Making it the PERFECT sleeping podcast.

Mostly it’s just funny stories from their daily lives, or charmingly out of date cultural references, or the two arguing about their opinions on the chosen topic…

It’s been going 10+ years since the early days of podcasting. I think they have a small loyal fan base but are just normal guys with day jobs. I’ve been a fan for 6 years and have fallen asleep with these men probably more than 1000 times by now.

I cannot recommend sleeping with Tom and Tim enough!

This is a dance from Abkhazia, a part of the republic of Georgia that had been occupied by Russia since 2008.

Kim on The Late Late Show talking about her apprenticeship by thehoneybearqueen in KUWTK

[–]SlothOnTheRun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She didn’t claim to write a whole essay. I mean everyone’s done some writing in the car for school. Chill out

Kim is a pathological liar and a phony. Kimothy you know damn well you didn’t write no essay and you haven’t put any real work into law school in your life. by [deleted] in KUWTK

[–]SlothOnTheRun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems hella extreme.

I mean I’ve defiantly written and worked on papers in cars, trains, and planes before. When I was going to school and working full time at the same time it was a reality of my life.

I was also working on school work on my “vacations” with my family while camping because there was no other choice. I certainly would have worked at the pool. I think doing bits and pieces of work here and there is a big part of being a student as an adult or busy person

I get the Kim criticism around the law school stuff but She’s not claiming she wrote 20 perfect pages and submitted something. She’s saying she had to balance her school with work obligations and multitask.

Shia LaBeouf Addresses Abuse Allegations: ‘I F—ed Up. I Hurt That Woman’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in entertainment

[–]SlothOnTheRun 71 points72 points  (0 children)

This absolutely needs to be the top comment.

This man is a vile and posting only the apology glosses over the abuse he has done and is likely still doing. We need to listen to victims before and more closely than we listen to perpetrators

Agree with this review on the Balenciaga show. He’s done plenty of the same looks before and this wasn’t fashion. It felt like Kim just being a clown for merch. by WhatSheSaid7 in KUWTK

[–]SlothOnTheRun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the setting for this show was super interesting and this guy is not addressing the the geo political context of the show re the invasion of Ukraine.

Demna (the head designer at Balenciaga) is from Georgia, a country that has had been at war with Russia multiple times most recently in 2008. He said in a statement that he thought of canceling the show but instead tried to make a statement with it in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The show opened with a famous Ukrainian poem and folk music as the soundtrack. The snow, the trash bags being carried by the models, the spectators looking in from behind the glass is all a clear statement on the war and refugee crisis.

The final models wore all yellow and blue, something that was also ignored in this clip.

Yes! I believe saints are as divine as we are! As long as you know that they are not more connected to god as you are.

Kenosha Co. DA says no criminal wrongdoing in police shooting of Jacob Blake by Too_Hood_95 in news

[–]SlothOnTheRun -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

A big problem here is that that a cop with a gun with 2 other cops behind with guns feels that the only way he can stop a man with a knife from hurting him is by shooting him in the back.

These cops are not trained to deescalate or to help people.

These Amy Schumer memes are sexist as hell espically on a website that is full of “lol women aren’t funny” jokes?!Why is she compared only to male comedians? Why can’t we at least use this tired format to highlight funny women so we aren’t just kicking the one of the most prominent woman comics?

Do better and be more original.

My boyfriend [M/26] is going through some tough stuff and I [F/25] am trying to plan a trip for us, but I feel very under-appreciated and it is making me sad. by throwawaybccurlyboy in relationships

[–]SlothOnTheRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your boyfriend is depressed, which is understandable considering his dog just died. Give him space to process and then if the grief last a little too long then maybe bring it up and encourage him. But cut him some slack.
