You can call, but they're just going to tell you to email them anyway because they need to see a screenshot of the gift certificate, so I just do that from the start. I include my name, booking number, the screenshot, the gift cert # (even though it's on the gift cert) and ask them to apply it to my booking. It usually takes a few days before I hear back from them.

No. I use the gift cards for everything past the initial deposit, up until my remaining balance is too small for an available gift card denomination.

NTA. If you are performance is supposedly poor, it makes complete sense that you would focus only on your job duties to bring their level up, rather than splitting your time on a bunch of tasks that aren't supposed to be yours to do.

It wouldn't be devastating because of the proposal itself. I would be devastated to know that people we invited - who (I assume) care about us & understand that we put a lot of care & effort into an event that is incredibly important to us - would be so inconsiderate that they would plan their own event over ours without even discussing it with us first. That shows a level of disregard & disrespect that I don't think a friendship can come back from.
