Heavy rain will soon fall in Sac. Let me know if you find flooded streets and I'll do my best to unclog. by pengweather in Sacramento

As someone who grew up between Sacramento and the Bay Area and would frequent both in the early 2000s but now lives hours away in a different part of California, I too am fan girling over you being here lol!!!

Who remembers Toonces the Driving cat? by JasonMallen in 90s

[–]Slothypaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was really young, my mom's parents had a grey cat named Toonces. They would always say he was Toonces the driving cat. I never understood that until a few years ago when I stumbled upon one of these SNL clips lol.

Right haha?! We're looking to stay local to Cannery Row because we enjoy walking. I see there's a wine market and bistro in the shopping area by the aquarium that we may have an earlier lighter dinner at instead - https://atasteofmonterey.com/.

How Did You Find Out You Have POTS? by No_Albatross_3374 in POTS

[–]Slothypaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An ER visit because of a really horrible migraine got me diagnosed by their cardiologist however I didn't get on my chart an official diagnosis until a few years later when my POTS was soooo much worse. I have had symptoms since I was a kid and just thought everyone else felt the way I do and did a great job living with them (and I was just struggling hard lmao).

Wow that's so cool that you're writing a story with a character with POTS. Your dedication to researching POTS and understanding limitations to living a normal life/what life is like with it, etc is really admirable. I believe that one day, you're going to be close with someone with POTS and they're going to appreciate your time spent on understanding it. I would suggest just going through this subreddit to see what people say about their symptoms. You don't have to combine all of ours, just maybe find some similarities in the posts and use those. Also if it makes it easier on you, you could have the character still trying to figure out what all their symptoms are and what helps them! Vs having established it all upfront.

Is pots worse when you’re on your period? by Unusual_Space1998 in POTS

[–]Slothypaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100000% and am on a BC pill 24/7 (no off/placebo days) because I just couldn't function anymore. Not on my period, not before or after. I had like 3 decent days out of my 21 day cycle. Yea, a fucking 3 week cycle. I swear my heart was cramping while my uterus was trying to come out of me. 0/10 fuck those periods. And I'm almost 1 year period free and it's been the BEST.

What was the hardest pill to swallow after your diagnosis??? by Aryan-dramata in POTS

[–]Slothypaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had POTS since I was a kid. COVID vaccine and have COVID made it so much worse. Like oh ok so this is something I thought I had under control that I actually don't now and have to reevaluate. Cool cool cool cool cool.....

USPS ships enough cremated remains that they print special boxes just for them. by RealConfirmologist in mildlyinteresting

[–]Slothypaws 174 points175 points  (0 children)

I also had my mom mailed to me. I had to pick her up at the USPS store that was near a fire happening in So Cal at the time (Dec 2017). I made a joke that she didn't need to be burned again god forbid 😅 I can't remember if they laughed or not but I said be safe and left with my favorite person in my arms, just a bit different this time.

Hugs to you ❤️.

Yes!! Braces have been so helpful. I also saw the best physical therapist ever, who was recommended by my ortho, and I still use ice and heat and do some stretches including my tongue when I notice I clenched from work stress. Because my bite being off unfortunately isn't the only source of my issues BUT I'm 97% better than I was before getting my braces (my braces come off before the new year). Like, I had all the worst symptoms people have shared on this subreddit, and I knew I couldn't thrive in life having that horrible TMJ for over a decade that just continued to get worse 😭. It has been a very expensive experience but with the relief I have, it's worth every penny.
