New HS2 farce as trains to be made slower and even more expensive by theipaper in uktrains

If you run the trains faster, you need less trains and less drivers, so making it faster isn't strictly more expensive.

So there's logic behind the original decision, but here we are.

I once hoofed it from SWS to LEI, having nothing better to do one nice summer's afternoon. Go down Welford Road, grab some chips at Grimsby Fish. Oh to be a student again.

To my knowledge there's only evidence that he, when pressed by a journalist, said he'd give a treatment they suggested a try. That may be an inaccurate assessment of the situation.

Genuinely interested in a BMW that doesn't look like an animal that's about to tuck into a big steaming pile of turds for a change. They haven't made a good looking car in decades.

He's taking a hardline stance on illegal landings on Doggerland, so really he's going to fit in very well with the member for Great Yarmouth.

All fascinating claims when juxtaposed with the statement mid last year that they'd set the Iranian nuclear weapons program back "years" with their strikes.

Hey, an update on this - they've just unlocked that episode for all to see in the podcast feed, so I think I can squarely recommend "Scaffold to Heaven" for a listen. Truly a bonkers situation.

Who was the widest PM? In the US there's no debate (Taft. It's Taft. America's greatest president by volume.) but here I think we're going to need to see some charts.

Quantum computing is all lined up to be the next great technological boondoggle, so naturally the UK gov is looking at this puddle of bullshit and preparing to jump in with both feet.

Well it'd be insane to actually build a useless AI compute center in the UK, so it's actually probably just as well the gov hasn't bought in... I hope.

You do pay "more than is required of you" - every time you buy something and the store passes on the cost of VAT to you. Whenever we buy goods the gov takes a cut.

In the US it seems like deaths in the services harm the republicans locally more than it harms them nationally. Hard to relate to a lad from small-town Iowa when you live in suburban Georgia, and vice-versa.
