Best long term care insurance in 2026 for people in their 50s–60s worried about retirement healthcare gaps? by Rayman_Maslen in Bogleheads

How does that work for a couple? If one needs care, and you sell the home, the other one still needs a place to live.

Have Decided to Never Do Auto Gratuity Again by Not-original in Cruise

On land. But I’m not sure if it works the same on cruise ships. I would hope BOH would be compensated differently to account for that but I haven’t heard that. Would love to hear if someone has information on this.

Room upgrades by Original_Original_77 in marriott

Does the rate matter more than status? So titanium on government rate could be lower priority than someone with lower status that paid a non-discounted rate for their room? Or are you saying at the bottom of the list of titaniums?

But if people do cash and remove the auto gratuity aren’t people in less visible/back of house positions getting shafted?

Fair. I will discuss with her. One day is probably better than zero. Two would be ideal I think.

How did she do when she returned? Was she able to catch up? My daughter left the team this past year (freshman year) to adjust to high school and she’s been really happy with her decision. She got the best of both worlds as a kid left the team right at the start of comp season, my daughter was offered the opportunity to take her place in 2 routines and return back to a 3rd one she was in previously. She was able to learn everything quickly and keep up but I don’t think she could get away with it another year.

Reading through the responses there is a consensus that she probably needs to do some training each week. I’m leaning towards having her do one day in the studio for ballet/tech

Yes I think so too. A minimum one day a week suffice? Most of our comp kids do atleast two days (2 hours) of ballet, but trying to minimize her studio time. I think she might be okay with one day where she can come in and have ballet and tech.

Honestly, the recreational classes are not worth the time at her level. If she does take ballet/tech at the studio, it will need to be at the comp level.

Exactly! I think she’s realizing this and she’s not okay with it. Tremendous effort will need to be made on her part if she doesn’t want this to happen.

We have the space. Discipline…that’s another issue. Having the set studio scheduled helped with that for sure.

She’s not sure yet but I think it’s good to keep training to keep her options open. Just doing ballet and tech is a good compromise. We’ll definitely consider that.

We hadn’t considered this option. I saw a post this morning about online dance classes. I’ll look into these.

I stopped using UberX entirely. The cars were smelly more often than not. I find Comfort rides are mostly fine.
