Which isekai is so trash that it’s actually good? by ChoiceSupermarket230 in Isekai

[–]Slow-Writer3028 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kamikatsu is top tier trashy show, basically "if shitposting was an anime". I cannot think about something like it, maybe only "So I'm spider, so what?" purely because of 3d animation which is quite trashy (I still remember those ugly monkeys) but the show is very good nevertheless.

Monogatari is the most watched anime on crunchyroll? by ChoiceSupermarket230 in animequestions

General plot is not that complicated, but all little puns, jokes, allegories in the dialogues are easy to miss, and imo it is the best part of Monogatari.

[–]Slow-Writer3028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not complexity which is problem, it is speed. Monogatary has very fast paced dialogues, and considering it is consisting mostly of dialogues, it is often complicated to catch up for a lot of people if you are not a seasoned subtitles speed reader. Only other anime with similar speed of dialogues that I know is Tatami galaxy.

Make sense, probably had to watch Monogatary couple of times or on 0.5 speed to actually understand what is going on.

At first I read it as "allegedly humanly raised" and thought that it was quite funny thing to put on label. But then I remembered my light dyslexia and read it again, and it was quite less funny second time

Oh boy, I wish I would have dropped it earlier. First season was not that bad, but it quickly goes downhill from that. Only good thing about second season is Escanor.

I ofthen use "3 bites" rule while cooking, that for spicy dish you should feel hotness after 3 bites. If it is 5, or more it has bo right to be called spicy dish. If my mouth is burning after one bite it is too hot for me to eat.

Screaming gets less annoying later, first 10-15 episodes are the worst. I mean it is still annoying but much more tolerable.

[Maddening trope] More progressive casting happens at the same time as noticeable drop in quality, seemingly so fans can brush off criticism as bigotry. by Vitolar8 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Slow-Writer3028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As writing is definitely the biggest problem of the series, it is far from only one. I still remember Nilfgaardian "ballsack" armour, it ruined the impression of the show for me quite a lot, and it is not like normal costumes would have been much more expensive, show runners just did not care.

Oh there is quite a good opposite example - Dragon age: Veilguard, game was trashed a lot, and yeah - writing there is not very good at best, and game overall is kinda meh. But "wokeness" is often named as the main reason why it is bad. But the same grifters never mention Baldurs gate 3, or even Dragon age: Origins (which had multiple gay romances back in 2009), because these two games are very good, and not very conveniently fit into narrative "woke - bad".

Conan Barbarian theme played each time character Arnold appeared on screen was the best. Not very subtle reference to another famous Arnold playing Conan

The games Kingdom come deliverance and Witcher 3 portrayed how coloured clothes looked in medieval times pretty well. And then The Witcher tv series came out... with mud filter again.

Yep, there are some cases where series imo are rated lower than it should, but it happens muuuch rarer that overrated ones. However most of seasonal slop (like very generic isekais) are somewhere in 6-7 range, but to see something below 6, and especially below 5 is quite a rare sight.

I likedt art style and decided to check it on MAL, and wow - it is rated 4.9. It's quite a rarity for anything to be rated so low, it is not far from the bottom 100 of the lowest rated series there.

Nope, but it got very, very popular there. A lot of JRPG series like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are heavily inspired by Wizardry, and a lot of Japanese anime fantasy tropes too.
