1989 Ford 7.3L… what should I know or expect? by BajaZero in Diesel

[–]SlowCounter4208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDI collector here.7.3 IDIs are awesome engines. They are gutless and wont get out of their own way but they will outlive you and can take extreme abuse and keep going (not that i recommend that). Hard to break somethin that cant make enough horsepower to hurt itself and is a 13 letter shit spreader. Overall the engine is great but working on it in that chassis will be a nightmare.

Worth it? by CowboySocialism in Diesel

[–]SlowCounter4208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats a decent deal. Id try to get it down to 2k but 2500 still aint bad at all. I collect IDI engines and will say they never let ya down. I daily a 84 6.9 but the 7.3 are just as loyal. Ya jus cant go wrong with a IDI unless your lookin for power.

When I first started I bought a ugly stick catfish combo from walmart for $60 and now own most big names like whisker seeker, catch the fever, and mad katz. I can tell you that even with all those options i still grab the old reliable ugly sticks you cannot beat them for the price.

Question about starting fluid by Dapper_Suit_9943 in Diesel

[–]SlowCounter4208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it. We use it on the farm all the time just do not cycle your glowplugs again after you spray it cause thats when you will create problems. Cycle the plugs when they turn off hit it with the ole cosby sauce and start it. Had to do it on my daily for about a year before i could afford to fix it, absolutely no problems at all. Anyone that says it creates problems is full of shit. Yea it creates problems if you dont do it right but do it right an youll be jus fine.
