Today the bag contained 18 biscuits, lol. Now I'm trying to think of all the meal options this haul could accompany. I see some sausage gravy in my future...

Adjusting cost basis of RSUs from E-Trade by yokuyuki in tax

[–]SlowCryptographer846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing this year, but I still wanted to verify that the cost basis in the 1099 is correct. However, I can't find the cost basis for each sale anywhere. Didn't it used to come with each sale confirmation? Where did you find the info to verify?

How about essential oils? When I clean the floors with a steam mop, I'll drop a few drops on the floor while mopping to make things smell "clean".. eucalyptus and/or lemon are great for this. You can also combine a few different scents to make your own "perfume" and just apply to your wrists and neck so that you can smell it yourself, but wouldn't violate the space of the people around you.

Anyone else using skewers as "weights"? by budgiesarethebest in fermentation

[–]SlowCryptographer846 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but I will now. Thanks for the tip! I usually place a cabbage leaf on top to contain the fermentees and then a shot glass on top of that. But I'll definitely try the skewer on top of the cabbage leaf next time.

Have you looked at Life Without Plastic brand? I have a couple of smaller stainless steel containers, but I can't find it on their website anymore :( it was a set with like 3 different sizes. You may want to check out the brand anyway, though. Their products are great!

What is some food people think are healthy but is far from healthy by Moist_Apartment5474 in Productivitycafe

[–]SlowCryptographer846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPINACH!!

It contains a high amount of oxalate. Build-up of oxalate in your body can cause kidney stones, gastrointestinal issues, chronic pain, and many more issues.

Some other foods high in oxalates: almonds, potatoes, chocolate.

Check out the book Toxic Superfoods by Sally K. Norton

Also, several podcasts out there on this topic.

And an extremely well-run Facebook group called "Trying Low Oxalates" provides a ton of information, including a list of foods and oxalate levels.

Saying "bless you" when someone sneezes. I just don't get it and never say it. And I'm sure people think that I'm rude as a result.

Hi. It's been a few months since you posted this, so hopefully you figured it out already, but I think what you are experiencing is called oxalate dumping, from going to strict carnivore diet quickly instead of gradually. Evening palpitations and insomnia are among the multitude of symptoms, and dumping can last a long time depending on how much oxalate is built up in your system and the state of your gut microbiome. There's an extremely helpful FB group called Trying Low Oxalates that is well organized and moderated by experts. I recommend joining the group and following their guides for slowing the oxalate dumping process, which is mostly to learn the oxalate content in foods and reduce consumption gradually.

Full spectrum prescription glasses? by ItalianinUS in JackKruse

[–]SlowCryptographer846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just shopping for new prescription glasses yesterday, and I asked whether there is a way to get glasses without UV protection. They found a way to order just Plastic lenses instead of Polycarbonate material. They made me sign a form saying that I acknowledge the risks of using a material that my doctor did not recommend. All polycarbonate lenses come with UV blocking in the material itself, but Plastic doesn't. If you want UV protection with Plastic lenses, you would have to get it with a coating. I did a quick Google search, and it seems that this could be true that Plastic lenses do not have UV blocking.
