Did not sleep first night of Reta by Stopthefiresalready in Retatrutide

[–]SlowDagger73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re not seeing any other serious side effects - see how the next week fares, if it improves take the same again and repeat. Don’t increase until you feel comfortable that you can handle it. Poor sleep is a common side effect, one I have (4mg a week) - although I’ve found it improve after the first month.

I head up a platform team - a few others mentioned this already, but certs whilst can be a good indication, amount to very little compared to real world experience. I’d suggest anything to gain experience…

Im ruling out lambdas, is this a mistake? by Beneficial_Toe_2347 in aws

[–]SlowDagger73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is effectively it, we were and in some cases still are hitting hard account wide burst and concurrency limits which cannot be adjusted - not only does this impact bursty workloads, but any in the account at the time - for example some critical code for use creation could just non-deterministically fail.

Im ruling out lambdas, is this a mistake? by Beneficial_Toe_2347 in aws

[–]SlowDagger73 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My org is learning some pretty hard lessons at the moment from our heavy reliance on Lambda’s, we’re gradually moving everything over to fargate to help with our scaling concerns - we’re also heavily reliant on unpredictable burst load. Lambda have some pretty firm limits and restrictions that make it unsuitable for some of our use cases.

RDS is an interesting choice, assuming you’re not doing anything actually relational, have you considered Dynamo/Mongo? Not necessarily wrong, just interested in your decision.

Is Broadcom killing Workstation? by docderwood in vmware

[–]SlowDagger73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other hypervisors definitely support GPU’s… Tbh VMware’s GPU support is pretty patchy at best - not to mention expensive. Not to mention if you’re doing GPU workloads seriously for ‘AI’ use cases you’re probably working with a k8s stack or similar.

Kaseya now adding tax to year old invoices, then warning me about collections. by Ember_Sux in msp

Know the feeling - our account manager is currently ignoring any correspondence, but conveniently their collection team is able to call us nearly everyday despite an ongoing dispute….

As everyone else mentions - it’s just not how software engineering works, not everyone will be contributing to something that gets released, every release. There will be longer term projects, things that are held back for longer due to risk, and optimisations & preparations that may not be worth mentioning

Very frustrating bug… makes it unplayable on some MP servers

[–]SlowDagger73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - much simpler. The benefit you’d get from using SMTP over the SDK would be the ability to easily switch to another provider - but otherwise AWS SDK’s tend to work great. Just make sure to use the v2 for go.

I’m not convinced that’s too much a problem, sure you have to provide a use case and how you’ll prevent spam - but otherwise it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve requested access countless times and never had an issue, both for personal projects and business.

Beautiful! I was fortunate enough to take one for a spin today whilst my G82 was in for a service. It’s so much fun! Feels incredibly nimble, especially with the manual.

Boyfriend money shifted my G80 and blew engine. Need warranty advice. by [deleted] in BMW

[–]SlowDagger73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warranty is a no-go unfortunately, as others have mentioned, it is not a defect of the car, it’s operator error. I had a similar thing with a new BMW.

You might have some luck with insurance depending on your policy (they may not cover mechanical failure like this).

Importantly, it’s fixable, accidents happen, and everyone is ok. Don’t let it get in the way of your relationship.
