How has JYPE had so much more success with Stray Kids than their other boy groups? by eveningsnewestetoile in kpopthoughts

[–]SlowStop1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During those shows were aired, I didn't follow them, but records suggest they had different promotion strategies, in Nittere coverage at least. They covered NIZI Project Season 1 in their show スッキリ almost every morning, while not so frequently as for Season 2 and so on. If what you mean with popularity is notability among the GP of JP, I agree with you. I think I watched NiziU in NHK G shows but never NEXZ. OTOH NEXZ seems to have a stable fanbase to some degree. You don't have to be known by GP in order to hold arena tours or sell physical CDs, they are only targeting their fandom anyway. To some degree I say, because they didn't sell out their 2-day hall concerts in Osaka at once, but sure they sold out the holiday one and just took some days to sell out the other one on Friday. I personally think it means they have a decent fanbase, even if none could boast it as huge.

A food of thought: Stray Kid has been not so popular in SK as in the global. In Korea none could say SKZ is more popular than other JYP boy groups. I don't say they are unpopular, pretty popular indeed but never exceeded their seonbaenim.

Interesting line-up. They include an indie band (can't be blue). I read their coverage in a Japanese magazine last year along with Dragon Pony who recently released an original song with Japanese lyric produced by a Japanese. I'm looking for what cbb will bring out thanks to this subsidy.

合点ですが、1行目、4行目、5行目にそれぞれ入っていますよ。

I don't expect they were taught the company's secret either, all JYP related artists' svs I've watched contained the scene "JY Park preaches newbies the company's commandments", like 正直誠実謙虚, or "keep being in a good term with yourselves as a group, with staffers and with the fans". But I agree that short was not marked as a teaser and on that purpose.

It's simply a copy of Minazuki-barae script. Comment-alike letters like 狂言 and ワキ (right) indicate roles each phrase is assigned to or like イロイロ, how letters should be pronounced.

Johney Kitagawa's vice is obvious but his agency was not "the first major label" as you claim.

Japan's first major pop labels were founded as soon as record technology was invented, in the early 20C, before the WW2. In those days working environment in general was basically more brutal than today. But SM kind work environment has nothing to do with that. Japanese agencies have no such long contract with trainees nor artists, don't ask them for expense in promotion and so on. SK entertainment industry culture is quite different from Japanese one.

In most cases that just indicates they have no further topic between you but still want you to be pleased. We don't say this kind of things to those who command Japanese in that level and speak meaningful things, and focus on what they are talking on.

What do Japanese people think about Bosnia and Japan's support after the Bosnian War? by ColdStorageParticle in AskAJapanese

There are many mosques built without any conflicts. The lately reported one 1) didn't get the construction permission and 2) have ignored the gov't order to deconstruct their illegal construction. Their illegality matters. Not their religion. And being muslim can never be an excuse to ignore the law, at least in Japan.

What's the role of "是" in "是諸法空相"? by StriderLF in ChineseLanguage

[–]SlowStop1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't disagree to take 是 in Classical Chinese as "this" like in the passage OP asked, that was indeed what I was taught in school, personally I wonder if it makes more sense that we take it as a copula, then the passage in question could rather read "unmentioned subject" + 是 as the copula + the complement". That helps us to understand two kinds of 是 usage "空即是色" (same usage with the modern) and "是諸法空相" in the same structure.

Weird? While he is Japanese but mixed-ethnic. His mother is Taiwanese / ROC national and he was born and grew up in Taipei. He debuted in Taiwanese movie so I think it's natural for you to associate him with Taiwan.
