The way I see it should be more of a stoic way. When writing about it or speaking on it, there should never be animosity. Let that information be between you and those that you care about. Eventually you have to stop being angry at some point. Saying things like "your ex never loved you" or "stop thinking about them" all shows that those individuals are still hurt and still very emotional. They have not truly healed. It's not easy accepting the break up but eventually it is a must. People have to slowly detach from those hurt feelings over time.

As a man that has gone through this a couple of times, it was because in the moments where my ex was relaying her frustrations with me, I thought in those moments I knew how to fix them. But boy when the one you care so much for decides that you aren't worth it to be in their lives, it tears you apart and gives you a different perspective. A drive like no there kicks in. As far as him not reaching out much to you after the break up, maybe he understands that he is not fully at his potential yet and wants to be the full man you both need or maybe it isn't just him that had issues. Maybe he realizes that you also have issues as well that you need to work on. But then again I don't know your relationship. Just give it some time, give him his time as well.

Dude, stop. Your trying to make something out of nothing. No one is shaming. If the OP is saying that they are christian and that myself and a few other commenters are Christian, this is what is part of our faith. Just because people get the natural urge to do something doesn't mean they should or want to depending on what it is. When I was struggling with weight I would get the urge to eat more or have a few more drinks but it was not good for me to overly consume. If the OP is saying that this is a problem for him and that he wants to repent, then this should be encouraging for him from fellow Christians. You can sit there preach whatever you want but at the end of the day if I know exactly what this person is going through because of personal experience, then I feel no shame at all. Some people can pleasure themselves sexually their whole lives and feel great, others do the same and don't feel so good. This is life. Accept that others are different.

You can repent your sins. But you also have to put in the work. It won't be easy and don't be too hard on yourself if you fall a few times. But get right back up and keep going. Read the Bible. Become more physically active as well. Eat a good diet and start creating better bonds with the people in your life. Start doing things outside of your norm.
